The sun sank toward the horizon, and a Rolls-Royce sat quietly beneath the rosy afterglow.

Crystal lights dazzled overhead. Handsome young men drifted between the dance floor and the private booths, while flashing beams of colored light cast an aura of luxury over everything. Beautiful women and beautiful men danced with abandon, and the air was thick with the heady scent of alcohol.

This was Takamagahara, the most elite host club in Shinjuku—and indeed in all of Tokyo. The women who came here to spend money did not care about the cost; in a single night, they might easily spend more than a million yen. The threshold for both customers and hosts was exceptionally high.

The moment Tang Xi discovered that they were going to a host club, she had chosen this place without hesitation. Not only would it later become the place where the Three Idiots of Kassel Academy sold themselves, it was also the finest host club in all of Japan.

Since she had promised Erii that she would take her out to have some fun, they naturally had to go somewhere interesting.

The identity check presented no problems. Erii had no cash on her, but as the little princess of the underworld, her checks were just as good. Tang Xi simply did not know whether her account had been frozen after she killed the clan patriarch and fled.

Then again, once the people at the entrance saw the car they had arrived in, they did not even bother asking questions. They let her in immediately.

Erii was filled with curiosity about this place, so steeped in the debauchery of the adult world. Exclamations of wonder rang out endlessly in Tang Xi’s mind, but Tang Xi paid them no heed and casually found a seat.

Soon, a handsome man came over to pour them drinks and wait on them. After a moment’s thought, Tang Xi asked him, “This is the finest host club in Tokyo, isn’t it?”

The man nodded proudly and shot Tang Xi a beautiful, flirtatious glance. “Of course. This is Takamagahara, the finest nightclub in all of Japan.”

Tang Xi nodded and continued, “Excellent. As the finest host club around, you must have Kazama Ruri’s contact information, right?”

The man froze, and his expression grew somewhat strange. The customers nearby had also heard Tang Xi’s question and could not help letting out quiet chuckles.

“Master Kazama Ruri?” The man looked embarrassed. “Well... no, we don’t.”

At last, the female customer beside them burst out laughing. She said to Tang Xi, “You must be here for the first time. Kazama Ruri is always drifting from place to place. No one knows where he is.”

She could hardly be blamed for laughing. This was practically common knowledge.

The Host Professionals’ Association maintained a ranking list, and Kazama Ruri had held the top position for three consecutive years. The list was based neither on appearance nor on revenue. Instead, following the principles of art, it selected masters of the male-hosting world.

Over all these years, Kazama Ruri’s position at the top had been entirely undisputed. Legends about this host circulated throughout Japan.

It was said that he charged girls very little, yet accompanied them in doing all sorts of interesting and extravagantly expensive things. Not only did he work as a host at a loss, he could also sing and dance, and was a master of the culinary arts. Every girl who happened to meet him became filled with admiration and infatuation.

Countless girls wanted to see him, but he had no regular host club and wandered about unpredictably.

Perhaps because she had seen so many girls hoping to meet Kazama Ruri, no one made much of Tang Xi’s question. The female customer even offered a kind reminder:

“For a while, he used to appear every night at the same seat in Chidori Bar. If you want to see him, you could try looking there. But you’d better go early, because ever since Kazama Ruri started appearing there, the place has been packed.”

“Though he hasn’t been to Chidori Bar for some time now. I haven’t heard where he’s been appearing lately, but plenty of girls still wait for him there.”

“I see.” Tang Xi returned the girl’s smile. “Thank you for the warning. But I have a feeling he’ll come here tonight.”

With that, she took the drink from the handsome host and walked toward the high-level VIP booth. Back when the building had still been a cathedral, this space had been used by the priest for sermons. It was the most prominent—and most expensive—position in the entire building.

The host seemed to want to stop her, but hesitated. “Miss, that area is reserved for premium VIPs...”

Tang Xi tossed him the keys to the Rolls-Royce without turning around. “Will the car be enough?”

The host stared blankly at the keys in his hands, utterly unprepared for such an answer. By the time he came to his senses, Tang Xi had already walked away.

The female customer beside him shrugged at the stunned host and murmured, “She probably wants Kazama Ruri to see her the moment he walks in.”

“But... how could Master Kazama Ruri possibly come here?” The handsome host scratched his head. “Our decor is far too extravagant. They say Master Kazama Ruri prefers places that are more plain and elegant.”

“That’s right. Everyone who has encountered Kazama Ruri has met him in a quiet, understated place. He definitely won’t come here.”

The female customer nodded and concluded, “So she must be a newcomer. She thinks that coming to the finest host club will let her meet the finest host. All I can say is, she’s terribly naïve.”

“Forget it. If she wants to be naïve, let her.” As he spoke, the host tucked away the keys to the luxury car. “In any case, we don’t offer refunds.”

...

Listening to the pounding music beside her and Erii’s endless exclamations echoing in her mind, Tang Xi did not look toward the dance floor. Instead, she opened the interface.

Her experience had risen slightly again, but her durability had already fallen to a pitiful five. By Tang Xi’s calculations, unless she got into a fight, she could control Erii’s body for one more day at most.

So increasing her durability remained her most urgent task. Fortunately, she was in Japan now. Japan was wonderful—Japan was practically overflowing with durability and experience.

She had killed Masamune Tachibana the moment she arrived. It had certainly been sudden, but given Herzog’s cautious nature, the man who died had most likely been a clone.

If it had indeed been a clone, then Herzog must already be thinking of a way to remedy the situation.

With the clan patriarch suddenly dead, chaos within the Eight Sheqi Families was inevitable. Given how deeply Herzog had infiltrated them over the years, he might very well have kept some trump cards hidden. There was still plenty of room for maneuver.

That was why Tang Xi felt that throwing only the Eight Sheqi Families into disorder would not be enough. It would be best if everything descended into chaos. Only then would she have a chance to fish in troubled waters and gain experience.

In that case, meeting someone from Japan’s other great power, the Ghost Faction, was absolutely necessary. After all, Japan had only two major mixed-blood organizations: the Eight Sheqi Families and the Ghost Faction.

Just then, Erii’s puzzled voice sounded in Tang Xi’s mind.

“Sister, where is the host you mentioned?”

“I don’t know where he is either.” Tang Xi answered casually. “But it doesn’t matter. I wasn’t planning to look for him anyway. It’s enough that he knows where we are.”

“Will he come looking for us?” Erii was even more puzzled. “Why?”

“Because people are curious by nature.”

Tang Xi smiled. Her tone was casual, yet carried the certainty of someone who had everything under control. As she spoke, she suddenly lifted her chin toward the dance floor below.

“There. Isn’t that him?”
