Chapter 108: Developing Wang Family Village (II)
The crowd found this senior figure incredibly mysterious. Having summoned everyone, the senior stood there with eyes closed, lost in meditation, without uttering a single word.
Just as the people were growing anxious and restless, yet helpless to act, Wang Keyue suddenly opened her eyes and shouted, "Spiritual essence descends, celestial banners grace the pavilion, obey this command with urgency!"
After saying this, she performed a rather awkward, nonsensical hand gesture toward the sky. In reality, she was mentally issuing the command to her "System Xiaobao" to begin construction.
Just as the crowd stood stunned in shock, System Xiaobao began executing the infrastructure development program. People felt a series of rumbling sounds coming from afar, and the ground beneath their feet began to sway. Although the tremors were not violent, the villagers had never witnessed such a scene; they screamed in terror and began to scatter in every direction. However, the shaking ground made it impossible to stand, let alone flee.
"Don't panic! Everyone, stay calm! My master is simply casting a spell. Everyone, settle down!" Xiao Hongyu, standing nearby, was also caught off guard. But when he caught the look Wang Keyue threw his way, he understood instantly. It was that girl causing trouble again. He felt a slight headache; he had no idea where she dug up so many bizarre gadgets, and she never gave him a heads-up. Every time, she caught him off guard, forcing him to maintain the facade of an unfazed expert. It was truly exhausting!
With Xiao Hongyu’s shout, everyone gradually quieted down. Of course, the particularly timid women were still trembling, faces pale, looking as if they might faint at any moment. The ground tremors grew closer, and the fear on everyone's faces intensified.
Finally, those on the perimeter began to scream, "Look! The ground is moving! It’s widening!"
"Ah!! The ground is turning white on its own!" At this point, everyone scrambled—some climbed trees, others scrambled onto rooftops or scaled walls, afraid to put their feet back on the ground.
In less than a minute, the original bumpy dirt path had transformed into a smooth, even concrete road, a full five meters wide—enough for two carriages to pass side-by-side.
"Everyone, come down now. Next, I will cast a spell on all the houses," Wang Keyue said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, the villagers were terrified. If such a spell were cast, wouldn't they be shaken right off their houses? Consequently, they climbed down immediately. As they cautiously stepped onto the new road surface, their complex emotions were hard to describe: there was fear, curiosity, novelty, and a great sense of vanity.
Before the crowd could recover from the shock of the new road, another round of stimulation was about to arrive. Xiao Hongyu could only shout inwardly, "Damn it! Oh, damn it!"
The surrounding houses seemed to come alive, dancing in a chaotic frenzy! This scene would surely make anyone without nerves of steel pass out.
"Don't panic, everyone! This... this is just another minor spell of my master's!" Xiao Hongyu joked, though he himself was feeling uncertain. Watching the massive magical spectacle unfolding before their eyes, the crowd shivered.
The original single-story houses rose from the ground, mysteriously growing taller—one story, two stories, three stories. Three-story buildings stood tall and upright before them, awe-inspiring. Amidst the gasps, screams, and the wailing of children, the transformations finally ceased after a long while.
But before anyone could catch their breath, Wang Keyue spoke again, "Don't panic, don't move. There is one final spell yet to be cast."
As soon as she finished, the crowd went dead silent, standing motionless; even the children held in their parents' arms stopped crying. Sure enough, this final spell was not about improving existing structures; it simply conjured white, dome-roofed buildings out of the empty ground.
In the moment the people stood dumbfounded, these white-domed buildings sprouted like bamboo shoots after a spring rain, reaching the height of three stories in the blink of an eye. Outside the buildings hung an oversized sign with six large, clear characters: "People's Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic."
"Is this a clinic? How magnificent!"
"This must be a clinic from the immortal realm!"
"How could there be a clinic in the immortal realm? Immortals are supposed to be immortal!"
The crowd seemed to gain a bit of courage; compared to the previous two shocks, they were much calmer this time, and some even began to whisper and discuss. Soon, many noticed other anomalies.
"Hey, look over there! There's a strange building on that empty lot, too." A boy pointed to the opposite side, where a house that had collapsed long ago in the village now sported a new, three-story structure. It was surrounded by a wall, and on the sturdy gate were six shimmering characters: "People's Educational Academy."
Realizing it was an academy, although they didn't fully grasp the meaning of "People's," everyone sensed that these buildings were a precious gift bestowed upon everyone in Wangjia Village by the immortal senior.
Wang Keyue took the members of the Wang family to visit the People's TCM Clinic, the People's Educational Academy, the People's Fitness Training Ground, the People's Canteen, and the free public restrooms, briefly explaining the function of each. The crowd listened in complete bewilderment!
After the introductions, Wang Keyue laid out the roles for the four members of the Wang family. She also touched upon the status of Jin Yi and Old Man Zhou, as they reported directly to her, and she needed to clarify certain matters.
From now on, the eldest master of the Wang family would be responsible for the training of all male soldiers. The members of the Gold, Red, and Orange classes would belong directly to the internal school branch, temporarily under the training of Jin Yi. Of course, if the eldest master discovered any promising talent in the future, he could recommend them directly to the internal school; once accepted, their benefits would double. Furthermore, the People's Fitness Training Ground would be managed by the eldest grandfather.
The second grandfather would be in charge of the village's material distribution and usage, reporting publicly each month and undergoing review by the school every quarter. He needed to organize personnel to verify the total village population and the number of houses as soon as possible, aiming to allocate one house per household. He would have to figure out the distribution method himself.
The eldest young master, due to his health, would temporarily oversee education. He was to think of his own plan for the academy. There was no rush for the opening; organizing it after this winter, in the coming spring, would be fine.
Finally, the second young master would be responsible for the maintenance of the village's infrastructure. Now that the streets were finished, the next step was to build the perimeter wall and improve the village drainage system; he needed to think that through carefully.
Jin Yi would serve as the instructor for the Gold, Red, and Orange classes, reporting any issues to her. As for the farmland under Old Man Zhang's care, the youngest young master would coordinate with him to discuss strategies.
After issuing these orders, Wang Keyue felt parched and drank several cups of tea before stopping.
