Yang Chen was reckless but law-abiding; he never drank and drove—this rule was inviolable.

He was waiting for his designated driver in the parking lot outside the bar when Chen Xi quietly approached.

“Hey, we meet again,” Chen Xi greeted with a smile.

Yang Chen turned around and smiled back. “Hey, hello. Are you off work?”

Chen Xi nodded, brushed her hair aside, and asked, “What have you been up to all these years? You never joined our class group chat or shared any news. I didn’t expect you to become the chairman of Sihai Group.”

“Don’t mention it. I suffered from being uneducated. That old bastard Wang Sihai tricked me—he made me the legal representative, then ran off with the family’s money. Now I’m stuck with debts totaling three trillion yuan. Sun Liansheng is disgusting, but he was right; I’m just a scapegoat. I can’t even afford meals; I have to use facial recognition to freeload wherever I can,” Yang Chen laughed bitterly.

“Three trillion?! My goodness, even when we honor my grandfather’s grave during the New Year, we don’t burn that much money for the afterlife, fearing it would cause hyperinflation in the underworld,” Chen Xi exclaimed in shock. Then she pulled out her wallet, took out all the cash, and handed it to Yang Chen.

“Take this. At least pay for your own meals—gentlemen don’t accept charity. Consider it a loan; pay me back when you have money,” Chen Xi said with a smile.

Yang Chen hesitated but Chen Xi firmly pressed the money into his hand.

He looked at the bills for a long moment, then raised his eyes seriously and asked, “I remember you got into Jiangcheng University of Finance and Economics. How come you’re singing here?”

Chen Xi sighed and recounted her experience applying to be Zhang Lei’s secretary.

Yang Chen nodded, understanding why Zhang Lei had been so hostile toward her.

“Nowadays, a bachelor’s degree is worthless. I majored in secretarial studies, so it’s hard to find a satisfying job. But I have to eat and survive, so I sing gigs to make money while looking for a job related to my major,” Chen Xi explained.

Just then, the designated driver arrived.

“Boss, hello. Are you the one who called for the driver?” the man asked.

Yang Chen nodded and handed over the car keys.

The driver froze for a moment. Just as Yang Chen was about to say goodbye to Chen Xi, the driver looked troubled and said, “Boss, sorry, but you’ll have to get another driver. I can’t drive this kind of car. I have elderly parents and kids to support; earning a living is tough. If I scratch or bump this car, I’ll have to sell my house. Sorry for wasting your time.”

The driver quickly returned the keys and pedaled away on his bike.

How come even drivers discriminate against someone driving a Rolls-Royce?

Looks like I have to work hard to buy a Vadi instead, or else even drivers won’t respect me.

Yang Chen glanced at Chen Xi and then smiled.

Chen Xi instantly grew nervous and waved her hands. “I don’t dare drive it either. If I sell it, I’ll end up losing money.”

Yang Chen handed her the keys. “Don’t worry. Even if you total the car, I won’t make you pay for it. This car is the reason I became a scapegoat in the first place. Come on, get in—I’ll tell you how I ended up carrying this burden.”

“Really… you won’t make me pay? I heard the little golden figure alone is worth 200,000 yuan. I can’t afford that,” Chen Xi said.

Yang Chen chuckled. “Don’t worry, you won’t have to pay.”

Chen Xi smiled and nodded eagerly, climbing in to experience the luxury of a Rolls-Royce.

This scene was spotted by Zhang Tao, who liked Chen Xi, and his timid friend Guo Hai.

Guo Hai whispered conspiratorially, “Brother, now you know why she won’t accept you no matter what? She’s attached herself to a rich guy driving a Rolls-Royce. All that ‘high-mindedness’ is just a green tea act.”

Zhang Tao gritted his teeth but said nothing.

Just then, Sun Liansheng came over with Zhang Lei, cheerfully clapping Zhang Tao on the shoulder. “Brother, I’ll tell you a harsh truth. When Chen Xi was Zhang Lei’s secretary, she seduced him and then blackmailed him for a lot of money. Zhang Lei was furious and decided to get back at her. The goddess you worship is actually a scoundrel willing to stoop to anything for money.”

Zhang Lei immediately chimed in, “Exactly! I can vouch for that. I’ve never seen such a shameless woman… uh, hehe… Brother, sorry, it was all a misunderstanding. Here’s some money to cover your medical expenses. From now on, we’re on the same side; if you need anything, just say so. Sun and I will definitely help.”

Zhang Tao looked at the wad of cash in his hand and, feeling rather hopeless, accepted Sun Liansheng and Zhang Lei’s offer.

“Bosses, if you need anything in the future, just say the word. I won’t let you down,” Zhang Tao said with a smile.

Sun Liansheng smiled and put an arm around Zhang Tao. “That’s more like it! Let’s go somewhere else and have a good drink.”

Zhang Tao and Guo Hai dumbly followed, unaware they had already fallen into Sun Liansheng’s trap.

Meanwhile, Chen Xi cautiously drove the Rolls-Royce into the Jiangcheng Bay One villa district. Just as she was about to reach the villa, she swerved sharply to avoid an oncoming Rolls-Royce Phantom and crashed into a tree.

“Oh no, this is bad, bad, bad…” Chen Xi panicked.

Yang Chen laughed, “Don’t get out to check. I told you, it’s no big deal if it gets hit. I hate this car anyway. Don’t worry about it—just drive away. Besides, it’s a Rolls-Royce. We don’t yield to other Rolls-Royces. If they don’t give way, we crash into them. I’m not attached to it.”

Chen Xi smiled awkwardly and explained, “Sorry, it’s my first time driving a Rolls-Royce. I wasn’t prepared; my demeanor didn’t match.”

She quickly started the car, reversed a bit, and drove away.

“Will you go easy on your ex-girlfriend?” Chen Xi asked.

Yang Chen shook his head. “I risked my life for her, but she ran off with the money to another man. How could I go easy on her? But I won’t intentionally harm her; everything will be handled legally. Alright, we’re here.”

Yang Chen opened the door and directed Chen Xi to park in the garage.

Chen Xi got out and examined the damage—a large patch of paint was scraped off, and there was a noticeable dent. Repairs would cost a fortune.

“Yang Chen, do I really not have to pay for this?” Chen Xi asked.

“Haha… no. It’s late; do you want to stay here tonight or go back? I live alone, so you can pick any room you like. If you go back, take any car you want,” Yang Chen said with a smile.

Chen Xi waved her hands. “No, no, I’m too nervous to drive this kind of car. I’ll just take a taxi home. Have you figured out how to pay back that three trillion?”

“Pay back? Why? It’s not my debt. I just need to run the company well,” Yang Chen said.

Chen Xi warned, “Be careful. If any creditors get desperate and decide to come after you, it’ll be over.”

Yang Chen laughed heartily. “Thanks for the warning; I’ll be cautious. If you’re leaving, go quickly. It’s already late.”

Chen Xi nodded and waved goodbye.

Elsewhere, in a hotel room.

Sun Liansheng, Zhang Lei, Zhang Tao, and Guo Hai carried two girls they had drugged and passed out, placing them on the bed.

Zhang Lei put two stacks of cash on the bedside table, smiling. “Gentlemen, don’t be shy, let’s get started. Don’t worry; when they wake up, I’ll use this money to make sure they behave.”

Over two hours later, the two girls left happily with the money.

Zhang Lei tossed cigarettes to Zhang Tao and Guo Hai. “See? I told you. Nowadays, girls are gold diggers. Just give money and they’ll do anything. Stick with us, and we’ll share the good things.”

Guo Hai smiled. “Thanks, Mr. Sun, thanks, Mr. Zhang.”

Zhang Tao beamed, then sighed. “I was too naive before, thinking girls who look innocent really are.”

“In public, they’re innocent; behind your back, they’re wild. Brothers, it’s not too late to wake up. Tomorrow, quit your jobs and come work for us at Changhui. Tomorrow night, I’ll treat you to some fancy food—you’ll have a blast. Haha…” Zhang Lei laughed lewdly.

The two country bumpkins, Zhang Tao and Guo Hai, never imagined they’d get to try fancy food; their eyes lit up with excitement.

Sun Liansheng and Zhang Lei exchanged glances, then laughed quietly.

At nine in the morning, Yang Chen drove another Rolls-Royce Phantom belonging to Wang Sihai to the company.

As soon as Yang Chen entered the first-floor lobby, the receptionist approached. “Chairman Yang, some investment advisors from several banks are here to see you. I’ve arranged for them to wait in the lounge.”

Yang Chen nodded. “Call them out and bring them to the finance department. Also, notify HR to hire a secretary for me.”

The receptionist nodded and quickly went to do so.

A secretary was necessary; such matters shouldn’t be handled by the receptionist—it would seem unprofessional.

The receptionist called out the investment advisors sent by the banks. They greeted Yang Chen and introduced themselves.

Zhao Jing, an investment advisor from Industrial and Commercial Bank, held a master’s in finance from the University of International Business and Economics.

Chen Lan, from Agricultural Bank, had a master’s in finance from Haicheng University of Finance and Economics.

Gao Ya, from Construction Bank, held a master’s from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.

Bai Zhi, from Commercial Bank, had a master’s from Capital University of Economics and Business.

Huang Wei, from Jiangcheng Development Bank, held a master’s from Central University of Finance and Economics.

Each of these five beautiful advisors had their own charm. Their competence was unknown, but they were certainly pleasant to look at. The bank managers knew what they were doing.

Yang Chen greeted each of them before leading them to the investment and wealth management department.

The Sihai Tower had 60 floors in total; the investment department occupied floors 30 to 33.

Yang Chen arrived on the 33rd floor and instructed the investment staff to begin work in the analysis room.

The five bank advisors wouldn’t interfere with Yang Chen’s work; their main role was supervision.

The one hundred million yuan pooled by the five banks had already been transferred to Sihai Wealth Management’s securities account and was ready for use.

At 9:30, the stock market opened.

Everyone stared at the large screen monitoring the market. Buoyed by U.S. interest rate cuts and domestic monetary easing, the market opened strongly, surging over 30 points.

After more than ten minutes, Yang Chen tapped the table. “Alright, that’s enough watching. We can start operating. Chen Chao, you’ll be in charge of the investment department from now on.”

Manager Chen Chao immediately stood up. “Yes, Chairman Yang. Thank you for your trust. I won’t let you down.”

Chen Chao had already transferred the embezzled funds back to the company account and showed remorse. Yang Chen was giving him a chance.

“Chen Chao, have everyone find the top ten stocks with the biggest declines and show them to me,” Yang Chen ordered.

Chen Chao nodded and loudly instructed, “Everyone, find the ten worst-performing stocks and show them to Chairman Yang immediately.”

This was no problem—it took only seconds.

Seeing the screen full of green numbers, Yang Chen felt much better.

“Now, split the one hundred million yuan in the account into two parts and buy the two most plummeting stocks,” Yang Chen said.

The room fell silent at his words.

Oh my god, the new chairman is a stock market novice.
