Xin’er, you’re quite impressive as well. Oh yes, I’ll need some of this fellow’s vital blood later. Could I trouble you to collect a generous amount for me?

Senior Brother Wu was a cultivator at the peak of Qi Refinement. Using his blood for cultivation could save a great deal of spirit pills, and most importantly, it wouldn’t cause any side effects. Xiao Wenzi responded with delight, not forgetting to mention this point.

“No problem, leave it to me, Wenzi.” Having already killed two people, Chu Xin’er had no qualms about collecting his blood and readily agreed.

An accord was quickly reached, and the two—one girl, one mosquito—launched a fierce assault on Senior Brother Wu.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

With the suppression from a mid-grade magical weapon, Wu was already struggling. When the razor-sharp mosquito wings joined the fray, he was immediately overwhelmed and the thought of retreat took root in his heart.

But escaping now was utterly impossible. Amid the chaos, the golden sword cleaved through fireballs and struck his protective aura, while three or four blades from the mosquito’s wings landed in quick succession.

His shield twisted and warped, and Senior Brother Wu couldn’t help but let a trickle of blood spill from the corner of his mouth.

“Damn it, I must eliminate that demon mosquito first!”

A glint of venom flickered in his eyes. He could barely withstand Chu Xin’er’s attacks alone, but Xiao Wenzi was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Without further hesitation, he reached for the pouch at his waist and drew out a talisman. Infusing it with his cultivation, a yellow glow enveloped him, forming a thick shield.

With the protection of a rare earth-element defensive talisman, Wu reckoned that even if Chu Xin’er wielded her mid-grade diamond sword with full force, she wouldn’t be able to break through anytime soon. That would allow him to focus his efforts on Xiao Wenzi.

As he pondered, fireballs flew from his fingertips, targeting Xiao Wenzi, who hovered just outside the shield, beating his wings incessantly. Meanwhile, the flying sword that had been entangled with Chu Xin’er disengaged and redirected its attack towards Xiao Wenzi as well.

Clearly, Wu hated the demon mosquito who had ambushed and slain his fellow disciple, and was determined to kill him in one blow.

But disappointment soon followed. Before the fireballs could reach him, Xiao Wenzi’s form trembled and split into four, each with nearly identical appearance and aura.

Boom! Boom!

Fireballs and flying swords obliterated three of the mosquito’s forms, but no blood spilt. Seizing the opportunity, the real Xiao Wenzi darted away and swiftly produced a talisman.

It was a mid-grade demon shield talisman, its barrier able to withstand attacks from a cultivator at the early Foundation Establishment stage. With this, Xiao Wenzi was virtually invincible, and with Chu Xin’er standing by, he was hardly alone.

With a deft motion, Chu Xin’er’s diamond sword blocked Wu’s flying sword once again.

She knew well that talismans had limited power. Priceless earth-element defensive talismans like this one were rare; Wu couldn’t possibly have many. Once the shield collapsed, she and Wenzi could launch their counterattack.

Wu understood this too. Yet he was stunned by Xiao Wenzi’s demon shadow technique, and by the time he recovered, it was too late to escape.

For now, another fiery talisman appeared before Xiao Wenzi. When activated, it became a blazing fireball that hurtled toward Wu, blocking any path of retreat, with Chu Xin’er’s diamond sword closing in as well.

If he forced his way out, he would certainly be wounded—perhaps even meet a far more miserable fate.

The fireball, brimming with demonic energy, struck the shield and began to burn rapidly. Meanwhile, the mid-grade weapon slashed relentlessly, making the shield twist and thin.

Wu’s face grew grim as Xiao Wenzi activated two more fiery talismans.

Refusing to sit and wait for death, Wu hastily cast his fireball spell to intercept them. But when the two fires collided—demonic power and spiritual energy clashing—they exploded instantly.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

With a thunderous roar, fragments of the Xiao family’s house rained down, the courtyard’s bricks rippled like waves, and cries of alarm rang out. The master Xiao, Xiao Yu’er, the servants, and the crowd outside the gates all retreated in panic.

When the dust settled, the yellow earth shield outside Wu’s protective aura had vanished, and the bodies of Gongsun Feng and Senior Brother Li were riddled with holes from the blast.

The blue water shield around Chu Xin’er was twisted and warped; her face was pale, and Xiao Wenzi, swept far away by the explosion, was now quickly flying back.

The demon escape talisman’s shield was only the size of an egg, so its surface area was tiny. He emerged unscathed, making him the most vigorous of those present.

Clang!

The crisp sound of a blade rang out as the willow-leaf blade flew from the girl’s hand, and the golden sword flared with light once more. Chu Xin’er seized the chance to annihilate Wu, for her spiritual energy was nearly depleted after so long wielding a mid-grade flying sword.

She had no spirit pills to quickly restore her cultivation. If she were defeated due to exhaustion, it would be truly regrettable. The best course now was to finish the fight quickly.

Slash! Slash! Slash!

With such practiced coordination, Xiao Wenzi and Chu Xin’er nearly shared a telepathic bond; he could easily guess her intentions. As he drew near, he beat his wings, sending blade-like gusts at Wu.

Wu’s face was bleak. Without the mid-grade earth-element defensive talisman, he could scarcely endure their attacks. He no longer wanted to fight; facing Chu Xin’er with her two mid-grade weapons, he knew he stood no chance.

But with Li and Gongsun Feng dead before his eyes, there was no possibility of reconciliation. Chu Xin’er and Xiao Wenzi would not let him escape, so he could only grit his teeth and desperately wield his weapons to defend himself.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Chu Xin’er’s spiritual awareness was limited. After barely deploying the willow-leaf blade, she abandoned control of her low-grade flying sword.

With Xiao Wenzi’s assistance, the diamond sword was temporarily blocked by Wu, but the willow-leaf blade and the mosquito’s wing blades relentlessly battered his protective aura, twisting and distorting it.

Maintaining the shield required vast reserves of cultivation, whereas Chu Xin’er, who didn’t have to keep up a shield constantly, could devote herself fully to controlling her two mid-grade magical weapons.

At this point, the battle devolved into a contest of who had the deeper reserves of spiritual power—yet Wu was still at a clear disadvantage.

His flying sword was inferior to theirs; after several collisions, cracks began to appear. Given time, his flying sword would certainly shatter.

And even if he maintained his shield with all his might, it wouldn’t last much longer.

Chu Xin’er, clever as ever, knew the key to victory lay in destroying the enemy’s weapon. With a deft motion, she deliberately increased the force behind the golden sword.

Boom! Wu’s flying sword shattered with a loud crash. Misjudging the timing, he failed to withdraw his spiritual awareness in time; the connection between mind and weapon forced him to cough up blood.

His already warped shield grew thinner and thinner, until the willow-leaf blade whistled through and burst it like a bubble.

Blood sprayed, and the wing blades and willow-leaf blade pierced Wu’s body in quick succession. He collapsed, face up, unwilling to accept defeat; his soul fire barely escaped his body before the girl, swift as a shadow, waved her hand and extinguished it.

The battle ended, but Chu Xin’er didn’t pause. She swiftly produced a jade bottle and began collecting the blood.
