Chapter 134: Day and Night
Shang Yucheng did not answer her question. Instead, he pulled out his phone and called Xiao Wang directly. "Make another run. Buy some fever medication and bring it over."
That word "another" served as a reminder to Liang Jinshang. "...Don't tell me that even this was bought by Xiao Wang!"
Shang Yucheng raised an eyebrow, his expression clearly saying, "What else?"
Liang Jinshang closed her eyes in despair.
To put it bluntly, when Shang Yucheng was asking for things at the front desk earlier, almost everyone had witnessed his "shameless" to-do list.
Except for Xiao Wang.
It seemed that the great President Shang was still unsatisfied and had now eliminated that "almost" as well.
Liang Jinshang asked weakly, "Didn't you already ask the front desk for some?"
He was doing this on purpose!
Shang Yucheng tucked her into the quilt without haste and tucked in the edges. "I'm leaving a box in your room, too."
Liang Jinshang was about to snap. "I told you, I've already broken up with..."
Shang Yucheng tossed that small square box onto the quilt, his tone neither salty nor sweet. "You can keep saying that. I will use my actions to prove our relationship to you."
Liang Jinshang was so angry her head felt even more dizzy.
She had only had a fever to begin with. After Shang Yucheng’s ill-intentioned "delivery of medicine," which first involved a shower that turned into a high fever, and now his verbal provocations, he was going to make her blood vessels burst from rage!
Liang Jinshang squeezed her eyes shut.
With her eyes closed, she didn't wait for Xiao Wang to deliver the medicine before drifting into a drowsy, unconscious sleep.
It wasn't until Shang Yucheng pushed her awake that she stirred. "Take the medicine first."
"Shang Yucheng, I have a fever! A fever! I just want to sleep for a while!" Liang Jinshang felt truly wronged. "If you were sincerely trying to deliver medicine, you wouldn't be dragging me back and forth like this!"
Shang Yucheng furrowed his brows.
He supposed it was his oversight, but whether it was at the bar or in the car just now, this woman had pressed herself against him so tightly.
She had directly pushed his own body temperature up as well.
His mind had been on other things, so he had been negligent.
Seeing her flushed with red and pink from the fever, Shang Yucheng, for once, shut his mouth and conceded, refraining from provoking her further.
Even the breath Liang Jinshang exhaled was scalding. When she was pulled into Shang Yucheng's arms, even his body, which she usually complained was too hot, felt cooler than her own.
In this condition, the fever would never go down without medication.
So, despite her anger, she was sensible enough to take the medicine from Shang Yucheng's hand.
After she finished, Shang Yucheng tucked her back into the quilt, then lifted the covers himself and laid down beside her.
No matter how tired Liang Jinshang was, she couldn't fall back asleep immediately after being woken up.
Feeling Shang Yucheng press against her from behind, she twisted away in disgust. "Go back to your own room."
Shang Yucheng chuckled against her ear. "Burning the bridge after crossing it."
She was always tearing down his bridges; she had grown quite accustomed to it.
Liang Jinshang had no psychological burden. "You aren't here to help me sincerely anyway; you have ulterior motives."
"How am I not sincere?" Shang Yucheng turned her over to face him and pulled her closer. "Did I feed the medicine to a dog?"
Liang Jinshang’s scorching face pressed into the crook of Shang Yucheng’s neck, which made it easy for him to receive instant feedback on her temperature.
But he felt like he was holding a furnace himself.
The man was naturally heat-intolerant; Shang Yucheng usually kept the room temperature very low when he slept.
Liang Jinshang's temperature remained stubbornly high, and to make matters worse, she was so soft that Shang Yucheng broke into a sweat several times.
He pushed her away, intending to take a cold shower.
Just as he lifted his upper body, Liang Jinshang, who had been on the verge of sleep, seemingly thought of something. She pressed a hand against Shang Yucheng and shoved him back onto the bed.
Shang Yucheng looked down at her. "Can't bear to let me go?"
Liang Jinshang breathed faintly, "Shang Yucheng, what are you going to get?"
It wasn't that she was overly suspicious; it was just that with the two of them pressed so closely together, she could clearly distinguish Shang Yucheng's state even through her fever.
Seeing him move like that, she naturally assumed he was about to take action.
Shang Yucheng laughed out of sheer annoyance. "What kind of person do you take me for?"
With her in this state—barely able to breathe, let alone anything else—how could he possibly find any satisfaction?
Liang Jinshang realized with a start that she might have misunderstood him.
Of course, that was only for this moment.
After all, he had brought "things" with him, which had long since exposed his sordid intentions.
"You won't even spare someone with a fever. I didn't think of you as a person at all."
To this, Shang Yucheng had something to say.
"You have a fever tonight, but that might not be the case tomorrow morning."
Liang Jinshang’s overheated brain reacted a beat slow. After a moment, she said in shock, "Even if the fever is gone by tomorrow morning, what are you going to do?"
"What do you think?"
Liang Jinshang pushed him hard, and Shang Yucheng eased his grip, letting her widen the distance between them.
"May I ask, Mr. Shang," Liang Jinshang said, her sense of values under assault, "do you do anything else with such urgency, sparing no time for day or night?"
Cold air snuck into the gap between them, and Shang Yucheng’s body felt slightly more comfortable.
But he soon leaned over again, gathering her back into his arms.
He was afraid she would catch a chill.
In truth, even if he hadn't moved, Liang Jinshang would have actively leaned back into him in the next second.
If the cold air had been like an ice-cold soda in summer to Shang Yucheng, then to her, it was like a freezing winter wind.
She was so cold.
Liang Jinshang moved quietly, embedding herself deeper into him, thinking she was doing it subtly and unnoticed.
In the darkness, Shang Yucheng curled his lips faintly and adjusted her head to make her sleep more comfortably.
...
Liang Jinshang drifted off to sleep without realizing it. When she woke up again, it was just before dawn.
She had broken into a sweat and felt sticky, but the fever had temporarily subsided.
Shang Yucheng lay not far from her, his breathing steady, clearly in a deep sleep.
Taking care of a feverish patient and managing to sleep so soundly?
How little did he care?
Liang Jinshang curled her lip.
She had originally intended to get out of bed quietly to take a shower, but now she didn't bother to be careful.
Opening her suitcase to get clothes, hopping around on one foot, opening and closing the door—the noise she made, while technically at a normal volume, was something she knew deep down was laced with resentment.
Naturally, it was impossible for Shang Yucheng to keep sleeping.
He sat up in bed, eyes half-closed, and said in a low voice, "Liang Jinshang."
His tone revealed his utter displeasure.
Liang Jinshang pretended not to hear him. Just as she hopped into the bathroom, she discovered the floor and walls of the shower stall were soaking wet.
It looked as if someone had just taken a shower.
The sound of Shang Yucheng walking approached the bathroom door. Of course, he knew the floor was wet.
Because he had suffered through the entire night, waiting until her fever broke before he went to take a cold shower!
And just as he had finally fallen asleep, this damn woman started disturbing his rest.
Shang Yucheng's expression was truly not pleasant as he watched Liang Jinshang hopping around.
Was this woman trying to take another shower because she thought her fever had gone down too quickly, or was she unhappy that she still had one good foot and wanted to take another fall?
"Liang Jinshang, come out," Shang Yucheng commanded coldly.
Liang Jinshang still held a grudge against him. "I'm sweaty and uncomfortable; I need to shower."
If she just wanted to shower, she didn't need to make such a scene.
Shang Yucheng's face darkened, his tone sharp. "I think you're just begging me to spare no time for you, day or night, aren't you?"
