Chapter 17: Why Are You Everywhere?

Liu Qing’s words sent a jolt through my heart. Of course, she knew exactly who Jiang Yue was, and she knew she couldn’t win against her. Yet she wasn’t afraid at all—I could feel that Liu Qing was risking everything.
Jiang Yue stopped in her tracks and gave Liu Qing a cold glance. “Just remember what you said to me today. Don’t regret it later.”
“Don’t worry, I’m ready whenever you are.”
Only after Liu Qing left did Jiang Yue finally let out a long sigh of relief. Her tense body went limp as she leaned against the doorframe and slowly sank to the floor, covering her face with both hands before suddenly breaking down in tears.
After all, she was still a woman. Though she appeared strong in front of Jiang Yue, her heart was fragile. I walked over and, even if I couldn’t hold her completely, I wrapped my arms around her.
If I had another chance, I would never leave her. I would make her the happiest woman in the world. But sadly, there would be no second chance.
Liu Qing, you’re so foolish. Why did you have to offend Jiang Yue? It wasn’t worth it. It really wasn’t worth it.
...
Jiang Yue got back in her car and immediately dialed a number on her phone. With a cold expression, she said to the person on the other end, “Director Chen, do me a favor... There’s an employee at Galaxy Media named Liu Qing. Use whatever means necessary to get her fired.”
In the end, Liu Qing couldn’t compete with Jiang Yue; her social connections were just too strong.
I don’t know much about this Director Chen, but it seems he always manages to handle everything for Jiang Yue.
Liu Qing, you should never have clashed with Jiang Yue because of me. It was unnecessary.
Now, I’m powerless to act. I can only watch Jiang Yue’s covert maneuvers unfold.
She’s not even human. For the sake of being with her first love, she’s already destroyed me. Does she want to destroy Liu Qing too?
Just as Jiang Yue hung up, her phone rang again. After answering, she hurried off to the office.
It was Frank again. I know this deal is crucial for Jiang Yue.
It’s not just about the money; if she lands this contract, her company’s reputation will soar within the industry.
She’s been working overtime for days on end, but alas, the client still isn’t convinced.

In the office, Fang Ting brought in two cups of coffee.
Frank wasted no time. “Miss Jiang, has Mr. Chu still not returned?”
Jiang Yue hadn’t told Frank about my death; she was still hiding it. “Mr. Frank, I know you’re very impressed with Chu Jianghe’s ideas. I’ve reviewed his proposal, and I believe we can optimize it...”
Frank waved his hand, cutting her off. “If that’s the case, I can find another company to handle it. I only want Mr. Chu. Please contact him for me.”
Jiang Yue, still annoyed from the cold reception Liu Qing gave her earlier, lost her temper. “Mr. Frank, I don’t understand why you insist on him. There are plenty more talented than him. Has he offered you any special advantage?”
Frank remained calm. “Miss Jiang, please understand. It’s our boss who values Mr. Chu’s creativity, not me personally. Do you understand?”
Jiang Yue snorted coldly. “Then let me tell you, Chu Jianghe is dead. You’ll never be able to collaborate with him. It’s impossible.”
Frank immediately frowned, incredulous. “Why? As his wife, why would you say that about him?”
“He really is dead. I’m not joking.”
“When did it happen? Why?”
“I can answer that, but can we talk properly?”
Frank was no pushover; he had weathered many storms and was the client here. He wouldn’t be easily threatened by a supplier.
He sneered. “Sorry, but if Mr. Chu has truly passed away, then our cooperation ends here.”
“We’ve signed a contract. How can you just terminate it?” Jiang Yue said expressionlessly.
“We’ll pay the penalty. That’s it.”
Frank said this casually before standing and leaving.
After Frank left, Jiang Yue grabbed the coffee cup on the table and slammed it to the floor.
“Bang!”
The glass shattered, and the brown coffee spilled everywhere.
Hearing the noise, Fang Ting hurried into the office and frowned at the mess. “President Jiang, what’s wrong?”
Jiang Yue pressed her temples and waved her hand. “Send in the cleaners. It’s nothing.”
Fang Ting nodded and left.
Jiang Yue immediately lost all her spirit, slumping onto the sofa, her face haggard.
She muttered to herself, “Chu Jianghe, why are you everywhere?”
“Because I did so much for you, and when I suddenly disappeared, you naturally couldn’t get used to it.”
Of course, she couldn’t hear me.

She laughed bitterly, almost mocking herself.
But I didn’t pity her. I almost wished she’d die of anger.
I thought back to two months before my accident, when I was still in the hospital undergoing treatment. The doctors recommended targeted therapy.
But that treatment was expensive—there was a machine that cost over ten thousand each time it was used.
Where would I find that kind of money? Jiang Yue forbade me from working and only gave me a thousand yuan a month to buy cigarettes.
Her housekeeper earned five or six thousand a month.
I wasn’t even worth as much as her housekeeper, let alone her dog—a corgi that cost her thousands every month.
I saved some of the money she gave me to buy her snacks and gifts. Over the years, I managed to save a bit, but my illness drained it all. There was no money left for targeted therapy.
But I wanted to live. I called her and explained my situation.
She thought I was playing tricks to swindle money.
I was truly heartbroken. If I wanted to cheat her, why wait until now? Why endure knowing she didn’t care about me, yet still hold on so desperately?
I had no choice—I didn’t work, I had no parents, and I didn’t want to trouble Liu Qing.
Liu Qing knew about my illness but not the details.
Taking out loans was impossible. In the end, I gave up on treatment.
By then, I was utterly disappointed in her and asked for a divorce. She still thought I was threatening her.
Even on the day I died, I remembered it was our wedding anniversary.
I wanted to spend one last anniversary with her, but she never gave me that chance—and there never would be another.
I really wanted to pull out her heart to see if it was black inside.
After all these years and all I sacrificed, even a block of ice would have melted.
But she always thought everything I did was expected. She even said, if her housekeeper died, would she grieve?
Well, I’m not even worth as much as her housekeeper.
Serves you right.
I don’t blame Frank for being so ruthless. It’s just a pity for him—I truly can’t help you anymore.
