Chapter 22: A Huge Misunderstanding
Seeing her two older brothers anxiously questioning the two toddlers, Yi Rongying said speechlessly, "Big brother, second brother, why are you asking Shichun and Tianwen?"
"Even if those two children saw something, they wouldn't be able to explain it clearly."
Hearing this, the brothers realized she was right and could only sigh inwardly.
Yi Rongqi asked curiously, "Huh? Second sister, why aren't you curious at all?"
"That’s right, Rongying, aren't you a bit too calm?" Yi Rongquan also looked at his sister. "Do you know something we don't?"
"What could I possibly know?"
Flashes of the warnings her parents had given her last night, along with their abnormal reactions just moments ago, raced through Yi Rongying's mind. She had a vague suspicion but couldn't put it into words.
She could only reply to the three brothers as if nothing were wrong: "If I knew, wouldn't I have told you already?"
[Oh my, the two ancestors reacted way too fast.]
[I just replayed it, and I didn't get a clear look at what the little ancestor host just pulled out.]
[This must be the system's doing again. It keeps scaring the ancestors like this; I'm really worried they might be scared to death one day.]
[Is the system too reckless? It's been two or three days, and it hasn't taught the little ancestor how to avoid attracting attention?]
[Did anyone on the scene see what the little ancestor pulled out?]
[I didn't see it clearly either. I also want to ask, did anyone get a good look?]
[Why ask? Why not just follow the ancestors and the little ancestors into the room and see for yourself?]
[That won't work. It seems that when the ancestors don't want more people paying attention to their words and actions, the live stream camera can't film that area.]
[This live stream is so user-friendly; it even has privacy settings.]
[Need you even say it? Who doesn't know that the more advanced a civilization becomes, the stronger the protection for privacy?]
...
Yi Rongkun had no idea why her mom and dad had suddenly become so nervous. She was badly frightened by their reaction and was on the verge of tears. Fortunately, the system spoke up just in time to distract her:
System: "Don't cry, little ancestor host. Your parents are only acting this way because they are protecting you."
"So, in the future, whenever you want to take something out, you must discuss it with your parents first. Do you understand?"
"But Tongtong, you're the one who told me to take the lamp out just now?" Yi Rongkun said with a touch of grievance. "And now you're telling me I did the wrong thing."
"I was wrong. I shouldn't have told you to take it out directly; I should have waited until you were inside the room," the system apologized readily. "I won't make such a mistake again."
"Okay, I forgive you, Tongtong." Hearing the system apologize so readily, Yi Rongkun felt embarrassed to blame it anymore.
At this moment, the shaken Yi Zhongxiang and his wife sat on the footstool by the bed. The couple patted their chests and took several deep breaths before looking at their youngest daughter, who had no idea what had gone wrong.
Facing her parents' gaze, Yi Rongkun bit her lip uneasily and said with a pout, "Mom, Dad, I know I was wrong."
"I shouldn't have taken out what Tongtong rewarded me with without your permission."
"But it's not entirely my fault; Tongtong didn't say that this thing couldn't be taken out easily."
Hearing their little daughter's aggrieved words, the couple scanned their surroundings carefully.
Yi Zhongxiang: "Tongtong, is it? Please come out, let's have a talk."
The room was silent; there was no response at all.
Yi Rongkun blinked her large eyes and asked her father curiously, "Dad, do you want to see Tongtong?"
"Yes, can the 'Tongtong' you speak of come out and meet us?" Yi Zhongxiang felt a sense of helplessness when facing his naive little daughter.
"I don't know. I can't see Tongtong either. It only talks to me, but it won't let me see it." Yi Rongkun said truthfully, then asked in her mind: "Tongtong, can my mom and dad hear you? Why don't you say something so they can hear?"
"I can't, little ancestor," the system said helplessly. "My energy is almost exhausted; I cannot communicate with anyone but you."
Hearing their daughter say this, Yi Zhongxiang and his wife frowned slightly. He looked at his wife, Liu Guoxiang, and their eyes met, both seeing a deep gravity in the other's expression.
Still, he wanted to try: "Tongtong, my wife and I don't know why you appeared by our little daughter's side."
"We don't know what purpose you have in coming to our home."
"But I hope you do not do anything to harm my child. If my daughter has done anything inappropriate, please forgive her."
System: "Little ancestor, tell your parents quickly that I won't harm you or your family, and ask them to rest assured."
"I am just a live-streaming system, broadcasting your family's daily life to the Interstellar."
Yi Rongkun: "Dad, Tongtong said it won't harm me or our family."
At this point, she scratched her head and stammered out the rest: "Tongtong also said it's a... a streaming system, and it's sending us to the stars."
"What?"
These words terrified the couple, and they hugged their youngest daughter a little tighter: "Little one, you are still young; you are not allowed to leave us."
Yi Zhongxiang added in a deep voice, "I don't care how capable you are. If you dare to take my little daughter away silently, I will find you even if it kills me."
"I won't let you off."
The man knew that for something they couldn't see with their own eyes, his threat was just a threat and would likely have no effect. But if such a situation really occurred, he had no other recourse but to make such threats.
"That's right, Master Tongtong, my daughter is still so young and can't even take care of herself; you cannot send her to the stars." Liu Guoxiang also hugged her daughter tightly, patting her back to soothe both the child and her own anxious heart.
System: ...Who said anything about sending you to the stars?
The system felt truly wronged.
It hurriedly explained to Yi Rongkun word for word: "Little ancestor, please listen carefully."
"I said I am an Interstellar live-streaming system. I am broadcasting your family's daily life to the Interstellar, not sending you to the stars."
Afraid she hadn't heard clearly and would pass on the wrong message again, it repeated itself, ensuring Yi Rongkun relayed every word accurately to her parents.
After hearing their little daughter repeat the words haltingly, Yi Zhongxiang and his wife finally understood they had misunderstood Tongtong. However, they had new questions.
They asked immediately: "By the way, what is live-streaming? Why do you want to broadcast our family's life?"
"And where is this 'Interstellar'? Is it far from us? Will it cause any harm to our Dragon Kingdom?"
Liu Guoxiang added, "Our family's life? Does that include sleeping and going to the bathroom? Must these things be broadcast too? That won't do; it would be too embarrassing."
System: "..." The ancestors' train of thought was truly unique.
Even a mighty system like itself felt outmatched.
