"Sun Xing?"

Seeing that it was him, Zhou Lina, burning with anger, walked to the door, grabbed Sun Xing, and pulled him out.

"What are you doing here?"

Sun Xing kept looking back. "Xu Fei, come out here! You and your sister are the same—everyone in the Xu family is trash!"

Initially, seeing Zhou Lina dragging him away, Xu Fei hadn't wanted to argue further. But that final insult made his brow furrow. He slowly stood up.

"Where are you going?"

Seeing the dark look on Xu Fei's face as he headed for the door, Du Man stepped forward and grabbed his arm.

"Stay out of this."

Xu Fei shook her hand off and stepped out into the hallway.

"Hey!" Xu Fei shouted.

Zhou Lina jumped, startled. She turned back to look at him. "Xu Fei, you actually dare to come out?"

Sun Xing, saying this, yanked his arm away from Zhou Lina, rolled up his sleeves, and charged straight at Xu Fei. But before he could even reach him or say another word, Xu Fei stepped forward and grabbed him by the collar.

*Smack!*

Xu Fei struck Sun Xing across the face.

"Ah!" Sun Xing was stunned. "You... you hit me?"

Xu Fei landed another blow. "Ah!"

Sun Xing was dazed. He clutched his face in shock. "You... you're hitting me again?"

Xu Fei didn't give him a chance. He stepped forward and slapped him once more.

"Ah!"

This time, Sun Xing was truly frightened. He backed against the wall, clutching his bruised face, the arrogance in his eyes replaced by fear. He stared at Xu Fei. "You... don't hit me anymore! If you hit me again, I'm calling the police!"

Xu Fei had no intention of stopping. He raised his hand again.

"Stop!"

Zhou Lina ran over and grabbed Xu Fei's hand. "Xu Fei, please, stop hitting him. I’m begging you. He was in the wrong just now, but I... I’ll apologize for him, okay?"

Her plea made Xu Fei look at her. "He can talk to me however he wants, but he has no right to talk about my family, and he certainly shouldn't insult my sister."

Zhou Lina nodded. "Yes, yes, I... I apologize to you on his behalf."

Xu Fei narrowed his eyes at Sun Xing. "You. Apologize."

Sun Xing, still holding his face, looked from Zhou Lina to Xu Fei. He gave a cold, mocking laugh. "I won't apologize. Go ahead, just beat me to death."

"Sun Xing, have you had enough?" Zhou Lina asked, frustrated, as she gave him a shove.

"I'm not making a scene! He’s a married man—why are you still hanging around him?"

Hearing this, Zhou Lina, enraged, slapped Sun Xing hard across the face.

"Why... why did you hit me?" Sun Xing stared at her in shock.

"You're not even human! What are you saying?" Zhou Lina demanded, pointing at him.

"What am I saying? Isn't it true? I came to pick you up for a movie, and look at the two of you—so intimate! You were even leaning on him! Huh? Am I invisible to you two?" Sun Xing pointed at her, livid. "Lina, you shouldn't be with someone like him!"

"Pah!" Sun Xing spat toward Xu Fei. "And you, Xu Fei! Don't be greedy. You're a married man—can't you stop acting so shamelessly?"

Seeing him continue, Xu Fei stepped forward to strike again. Sun Xing scrambled to the side, terrified. Zhou Lina blocked Xu Fei, and in a flash, Sun Xing bolted toward the stairwell.

"You wait for me, Xu Fei! This isn't over!"

"Don't you run! Come back here and let's see how it's not over!" Xu Fei started to give chase, but Sun Xing was already running down the stairs.

Seeing this, Zhou Lina called out, "That's enough! Don't chase him."

Xu Fei hadn't actually intended to follow him. He stopped and stood still. When he turned back to look at Zhou Lina, he felt a bit awkward. "I'm sorry, I..."

"Forget it. Actually, I'm the one who should be apologizing."

"You?" Xu Fei didn't know what to say. After all, he and Zhou Lina had a past, and he had promised Sun Xing, right to his face, that he would not keep in touch with her. "I didn't think he was so narrow-minded, and his character..."

Zhou Lina waved her hand. "Don't say it. Actually, he's been quite good to me."

"You..."

"I'm leaving."

After saying this, Zhou Lina headed toward the stairs. Xu Fei watched her disappear around the corner, a sour feeling lingering in his heart.

Outside the hospital, Sun Xing was squatting near the bike shed where she had parked. Seeing her come out, he stood up. "You... you're out?"

Zhou Lina walked up to him. "What is your problem? There is nothing between him and me. Why did you have to say those things to provoke him? You know what just happened to Xu Qing."

Sun Xing looked down. "I... I just couldn't stand seeing you with him, so..."

"Enough." Zhou Lina pushed past him to unlock her bike.

Sun Xing pressed his hand onto the back seat. "We... we haven't gone to the movie yet."

Zhou Lina glanced at him. "Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go."

Sun Xing froze. He hadn't expected her to say that.

"What are you looking at?"

"I... I thought you were going to yell at me."

"I don't even have the energy to yell at you anymore."

Sun Xing grinned and ran to his own bike. "Right, right! I'm not worth your breath, haha..."

Laughing, he wheeled his bike out, and the two of them rode out of the hospital side by side.

Inside the hospital room, Xu Qing sat up in bed. "Sister-in-law, I want to be discharged."

Du Man looked at Xu Fei and then asked Xu Qing, "Why don't you stay one more night?"

"Yeah, you're still..."

"I'm fine." Xu Qing looked down and tossed the blanket aside.

As she stepped out of the bed, her body seemed to tremble from the effort of standing. Despite this, she stubbornly started toward the door. She hadn't taken more than a few steps when her foot gave way, and she collapsed.

"Xu Qing!"

Du Man cried out in alarm, lunging forward to catch her in her arms. Fortunately, she was fast enough, or Xu Qing would have hit the floor.

"I... I..." Xu Qing was still too weak. Her voice was faint, barely a whisper.

"Don't say anything. If you really want to go home, we'll take you home," Xu Fei said, stepping forward. He and Du Man helped her up.

Xu Qing looked at Xu Fei with gratitude.

"Du Man, go pack our things. Come here, get on my back. I'll carry you downstairs."

Xu Fei walked in front of Xu Qing, bent his knees, and crouched down. Seeing this, Du Man looked at the surprised Xu Qing and said, "Let your brother carry you. In your state, you won't be able to walk back on your own."

Xu Yun walked over as well. "Sister, just let Brother carry you. We were all carried by him when we were kids—did you forget?"
