Chapter Fifty-Three: Gu Lang, How Dare You Seize My Prize!
"Damn it, weren't we promised fewer zombies this year than usual? Why are there suddenly more Silver Zombies?"
On the rooftop of the central battlefield tower, Sun Hai was drenched in sweat.
Ever since the appearance of the Golden Zombie, their formation had been thrown into chaos.
This Golden Zombie was ferocious—riding a bicycle as if propelled by rockets, vaulting dozens of meters straight from the ground and slaughtering all the brothers on the rooftops.
Thankfully, Sun Tian and Sun Hai had anticipated trouble and chosen a higher floor, barely managing to hold out.
But now, several flying Silver Zombies had appeared in mid-air!
"Damn it! Why hasn't the Golden Boss shown up yet? Wasn't it agreed he'd come save us after Gu Lang was finished off? Gu Lang must be dead by now."
Sun Tian gritted his teeth, summoning arcs of silver lightning in his hands, sending bolts crashing into the zombies.
Yet more Silver Zombies kept filling the ranks, their numbers even surpassing the Bronze at one point.
Pale-faced, Sun Tian recalled his pact with Gu Lang; he didn't want to die just yet.
"Hang in there! The Golden Lord will save us!"
Sun Hai insisted as another streak of lightning struck down a Silver Zombie.
Sun Tian seethed. At such a critical moment, Sun Hai was still defending the Golden Boss.
This was clearly a betrayal!
"Wait… Have you noticed these zombies seem almost intelligent? They're specifically targeting us—and all of them are Silver."
Suddenly, Sun Tian sensed something was wrong.
In previous zombie waves, even the Silver Zombies had charged mindlessly across the battlefield.
Why were they attacking the building with such purpose today?
"I remember you said the Golden Lord's older brother had a talent for invisibility."
Sun Tian spoke, as if struck by sudden enlightenment.
Sun Hai froze, suspicion stirring within him as well.
"No way—the Lord wouldn't betray us! You're overthinking it. Let's just hold out a little longer. The Golden Lord will definitely save us!"
Seeing his brother's blind faith, Sun Tian wanted to slap him.
But he knew Sun Hai was beyond saving.
So he began searching desperately for Gu Lang's shadow, clinging to hope.
If he could find Gu Lang, perhaps he could escape with him.
"Look out!"
Suddenly, lightning twined around Sun Hai's hand and struck Sun Tian, sending him flying.
A Golden Zombie appeared at the spot where Sun Tian had stood.
This Golden Zombie, bicycle underfoot, descended like a god of war, leaping up from dozens of meters below and shattering the concrete floor.
"Damn it! This building is lost. Retreat, now!"
The Sun brothers retreated, unleashing lightning to hinder the Golden Zombie.
Not far away, Huang Jin and Huang Tianlong watched silently.
"This Sun Hai fellow is loyal to you—are you sure you want to kill him too?"
Huang Tianlong observed the brutal rooftop battle: a horde of Silver Zombies coordinated with a single Golden. At most, they could last another five minutes.
"You don't understand. These people were destined to die—I'm the one who gave them life."
Huang Jin remained unmoved, continuing to give orders.
"Go, lure the last batch of Silver Zombies to Gu Lang. We'll just wait."
Huang Tianlong nodded and his form faded again.
He drew a group of Silver Zombies over and approached Gu Lang.
When he was about thirty meters from Gu Lang, a sudden chill brushed his ear.
"Swish!"
An ice spike pierced from his left ear through his right, killing him instantly.
"What? Was it a fluke… or did he know I was here?"
Huang Tianlong's mouth hung open, his gaze dimming as life left him.
In the distance, Gu Lang slowly lowered his hand.
"It's done—I've captured two more Silvers. There aren't many left on the field. You're worthless now."
Gu Lang had always been able to sense Huang Tianlong's location, thanks to a skill: Telepathic Transmission.
It allowed him to communicate remotely with a chosen target and perceive what the target sensed.
Gu Lang had used it to quietly establish contact with Huang Tianlong, but he never spoke—only watched in silence.
That way, he could monitor Huang Tianlong's every move.
"Gu Lang, Lord Golden must be hiding nearby. If we've killed Huang Tianlong, will he run?"
The little girl looked anxious.
Li Muwan sneered, answering for Gu Lang.
"Don't worry. Golden probably wants to kill his own brother. If we hadn't killed Huang Tianlong, we'd die anyway once we got back."
Gu Lang nodded in agreement.
"That's right. He's likely preparing a sacrifice, but he can't slaughter Silver Zombies en masse. So he uses his survivors as material."
"Luring zombies to kill Sun Tian and Sun Hai was part of the plan, too."
"But he probably didn't expect us to show up."
Gu Lang glanced at his zombie army.
By now, the number of Silver Zombies had risen to eighteen.
Enough for Gu Lang to break out directly.
But he refrained—he hadn't fully exploited the benefits of the zombie tide yet.
Gu Lang eyed the distant Golden Zombie, his heart stirring.
"Once I've accumulated enough stat points, I'll get two Golden wives. Killing a single Golden Zombie should suffice."
Gu Lang was aiming for something greater.
In the distance, Huang Jin kept a close watch on the battlefield.
Seeing that Huang Tianlong had not returned, he searched anxiously.
Soon he spotted Huang Tianlong's corpse amidst the zombie tide, being torn and gnawed by two zombies.
"Dead? Wait—the corpses should be enough now!"
Huang Jin's heart stirred; by his calculations, he had enough bodies.
Without hesitation, he moved forward and dispatched the zombies, snatching Huang Tianlong's corpse with his peak Silver strength.
His figure flashed, and he rushed toward the gate of the well.
"Boom!"
Huang Jin kicked the gate open and was stunned.
The courtyard was empty, the well dried up.
Gone?
No... How could it vanish!
Damn it, the special zombies I went through hell to find are gone!
At that moment, Huang Jin was dumbfounded. He suddenly turned toward Gu Lang.
"Wait… That kid has grown strong but hasn't left. Did he steal my preparations?"
"Damn you, Gu Lang! Are you looking for death?"
As the Lord of Iron City, Huang Jin was cunning and clever—a true villain.
He immediately realized someone had beaten him to the prize, and the culprit was Gu Lang!
Without another word, his figure vanished, speeding toward Gu Lang at 300 velocity.
He would kill Gu Lang and reclaim his spoils!
"He's coming!"
Gu Lang sneered, turning to meet Huang Jin's gaze, his eyes cold and indifferent.
"Gu Lang! You bastard, how dare you steal from me! Do you have a death wish?"
Huang Jin immediately spotted Lisa beside Gu Lang.
He knew Lisa was the evolved form of the zombie from the well!
Gu Lang sneered, his tone calm.
"So what? Do you think you can still beat me?"
"What!"
Huang Jin froze, his expression suddenly shifting.
