Chapter Sixty-Seven: Old Fisher, I’ll Take You to Hunt for Gold!
“What! You little brat, you set me up!”
Li Changhe’s face went deathly pale; he never imagined that not only had Gu Lang latched onto Luo Xue’s thigh, but he also had the assistance of so many top-tier zombies.
Was this guy even human?
If someone called him the King of Zombies, people would probably believe it.
Li Changhe tried to struggle, but he was already gravely injured—his combat strength wasn’t even on par with a low-tier gold.
The army of wives was vast in number, and with experts like Li Muwan, Li Xiaoxiao, the Zombie Queen, and Wenwen among them, Li Changhe was forced back with each blow.
With attacks coming from both front and back, there was nowhere to escape.
“A gold zombie, and so many on the verge of silver’s peak—Gu Lang, just who are all these people to you?”
Luo Xue frowned, scanning Gu Lang with a hint of jealousy.
“Your Highness, these are all my guards—just like your zombie bodyguards. Don’t worry, they’re all our people.”
Gu Lang lied without even blinking.
This time, he was pursuing a platinum rank, and with the favorability still lacking, he absolutely couldn’t admit to having multiple wives.
Luo Xue nodded, not suspicious, but her gaze turned icy as she looked at Li Changhe.
“You can’t get away now. Speak! How many people does the SPC have, and where is your hideout?”
“Hmph! Just a zombie. Do you really think being platinum makes you invincible? Just wait! After I die, a diamond-ranked big shot will personally come to kill you! Then you, Gu Lang, and all the rest will be buried with me!”
Li Changhe gritted his teeth, hatred etched across his face. Knowing that there was no escape, he chose to vent his fury instead.
“Is that so?”
Luo Xue wasted no more words. Waves of chill condensed into a blade of ice,
pressing against Li Changhe’s chest, ready to pierce him at any moment.
“Your Highness! Don’t kill him yet—I have ways of making him spill everything!”
Gu Lang grinned wickedly.
“What? You little—”
Li Changhe’s eyes widened. He was about to kill himself, but Luo Xue struck him unconscious before he could act.
…
Core city of the Dragon Nation, SPC headquarters.
A white-haired, red-eyed youth stood at the window of a villa.
“Heh, the first king—will it be a zombie or a human? Interesting. Let’s wait and see!”
“Wait… Li Changhe is dead? Worthless!”
Sensing something, the youth’s expression turned dark.
“It happened near Iron Black City. Why don’t you go take a look? I recall there’s a platinum zombie there—if you kill it and retrieve its heart, we can make at least five bottles of platinum-grade serum.”
The youth turned to give his orders, but his manner was extremely respectful.
Within the villa, a figure materialized out of thin air.
He was a handsome middle-aged man.
He said nothing upon arrival.
“Old Yu, I hear your daughter is near Dawn City. Why not go yourself this time? You might just find her.”
The youth spoke with a tempting tone.
Old Yu simply chuckled, showing no fear.
“Cut the nonsense. I’ll find my daughter myself. By the way, you’ve reached peak diamond, haven’t you? We’re about the same rank now. Any progress breaking through to King?”
“Not yet. There’s a limit to the serums. This apocalypse has only just begun—I predict two or three more waves of mutation are coming. When that happens, zombies will grow stronger, all manner of disasters will arise, and even King won’t be the end.”
“I see.”
Old Yu nodded and vanished.
…
“Corpse Transformation! Imperial Aura!”
Gu Lang used his skill on Li Changhe’s unconscious body.
Li Changhe’s body shuddered, slowly transforming. After a few breaths, he became a zombie.
“This technique… Gu Lang, just who are you?”
Luo Xue witnessed the entire process, looking at Gu Lang in surprise.
“Heh, no need to worry, Your Highness. You’ll know soon enough. For now, watch as I make him tell the truth.”
As Gu Lang spoke, he was secretly sending a telepathic message.
“Listen! Whatever I say, you repeat!”
Li Changhe gave a subtle nod.
“Let me ask you, are you people capturing zombies to use as raw materials for refining serums? Was your target this time Princess Luo Xue?”
Gu Lang’s gaze was sharp as he questioned.
Under his control, Li Changhe nodded immediately.
“That’s right! We’re utterly ruthless, collecting zombies to refine ingredients for our serums. With this, we’ve been able to mass-produce powerful humans. This time, our goal was to capture Princess Luo Xue alive!”
“Hmph! Such arrogance. A mere half-step platinum dares to dream.”
Luo Xue was furious, her fine brows knitted, cold light flashing in her eyes.
“Don’t worry, Your Highness. He’s just a lackey. There are stronger ones behind him, and they’ve got their eyes on you. If we want to end this, we must go together to their headquarters and kill their leader!”
Gu Lang seized the opportunity to persuade her.
“Why not come with me, Your Highness? The Great Snow Mountain is already exposed—if we don’t leave now, stronger enemies will come, perhaps even diamonds.”
“I understand your dignity won’t allow even the slightest offense, and you must have revenge. So, while their guard is down, let’s strike at their headquarters! I have old scores with them too!”
Luo Xue listened intently to his impassioned words.
“Very well. I’ve been wanting to leave here anyway. Now that we have a target, let’s go together.”
Gu Lang was ecstatic—he’d finally done it and managed to win over a platinum bodyguard!
The best part was, as long as he completed the mission and spent two months together, the favorability would max out automatically.
By then, this bodyguard would be his for good!
Even if he had to tie her down, he’d keep Luo Xue at his side!
Yet, this seemingly simple feat was something only Gu Lang could have achieved.
He’d used his Imperial Aura and telepathy to paint the SPC as utterly depraved and a threat to the princess.
Add in the good impression from their earlier encounter, and success was possible.
Otherwise, even a diamond wouldn’t have been able to force her to go along.
“Don’t rush. There are still many Chosen humans in the area, making their way up the mountain. Do you want to kill them?”
Luo Xue suddenly looked at Gu Lang seriously.
“How many Chosen are there?”
“There must be several hundred silvers, and two or three golds.”
Gu Lang’s eyes widened, his breathing rapid.
If he killed these gold experts, wouldn’t they become his puppets?
Normally, slaying gold-ranked humans would have been extremely difficult—after all, they were intelligent, quick to escape when outmatched, and always had backup plans.
But with Luo Xue’s help, there might be a real slaughter ahead.
“I wonder if killing golds will grant me new skills?”
Moments later, the group set out, heading straight down the mountain!
…
“Damn it, I thought it was a trap, but after entering the mountain, the platinum powerhouse vanished. Looks like I was a step too late!”
A burly man in a golden fur coat crushed two zombie heads in his hands.
He was one of the gold experts climbing the mountain.
Over a hundred people clustered around him.
“Chief! As the city lord of our neighboring city and a gold rank, it’s only a matter of time before you break through to platinum. Then we’ll settle the score!”
“That’s right! Boss, you’re unmatched—invincible in the world!”
The gold chief laughed heartily, swelling with pride—until he suddenly froze.
In the distance, Gu Lang was approaching, step by step.
