Chapter 3: The Lost Heiress of the Su Family

When Shen Yanzhi’s phone rang, the one who reacted the most was Chi Yu, who resided within the phone. She watched with wide eyes as Shen Yanzhi picked up the phone, and at the very moment his gaze landed on the screen, the phone unlocked successfully! Chi Yu eagerly slipped inside.
What surprised her was that this time, after answering the call, Shen Yanzhi did not bring the phone to his ear but instead activated speakerphone and held it in front of him. His eyes remained fixed on the screen. Seeing this, Chi Yu cautiously hid in the shadows, not daring to make a move.
From Shen Yanzhi’s earlier action of exiting the camera app, Chi Yu had already realized that whenever she used a phone function, the screen would synchronize and display it as if someone were physically operating the phone.
Imagine how terrifying it would be if, during a call, one discovered the phone automatically opening WeChat, the browser, or typing in input boxes on its own.
Having just crossed over, she did not want to be sent straight to the phone repair shop so soon.
Once again, Chi Yu was forced to eavesdrop.
The incoming call’s contact name read: Jiang Chang.
Jiang Chang’s voice was youthful and lively. “Brother Shen, I heard your company lost that bidding project?”
Shen Yanzhi lowered his eyes and asked calmly, “Which project?”
Jiang Chang laughed. “The one in Huaishi. I saw it all over the group chat. Young Master Su was bragging everywhere, saying he outbid you by ten thousand. Everyone was stunned. What ability does Young Master Su have to snatch your meal from your bowl?”
“Everyone competes based on their own merits. There’s no such thing as snatching meals,” Shen Yanzhi corrected him coldly. “If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”
“Hey, don’t!” Jiang Chang quickly stopped him. “There’s one more thing, Brother Shen. You’ll definitely be interested.”
Shen Yanzhi did not respond. Instead, he swiped on the screen, shrinking the call window to the top of the display. Then he opened WeChat.
The phone had just vibrated multiple times, all unread messages.
Chi Yu noticed that even if she did not actively look, as Shen Yanzhi operated, those messages would emerge into her consciousness through the screen.
The latest messages were all from Shen Yanzhi’s mother.
And the content was, astonishingly, urging him to marry.
Chi Yu glanced at the cold and stern CEO in front of her, realizing that no matter how wealthy a man is, he cannot escape the marital pressure from his elders.
Seeing the messages from Mrs. Jiang, Shen Yanzhi’s brows knit slightly.

On the other end, Jiang Chang was unfazed by Shen Yanzhi’s coldness—or rather, those who knew Shen Yanzhi were already accustomed to his aloof nature.
He took the initiative to share the latest gossip he had encountered in the past two days. “Something happened with the Su family recently—the missing young lady has been found!”
“I heard that although she grew up in an orphanage, her appearance, manners, and talents are no less than those of the pampered young ladies who grew up in luxury.”
“The Su family made a grand announcement of her return. The patriarch even declared that at next month’s homecoming banquet, they would transfer five percent of Sheng’an Group’s shares to her name.”
“Impressive, isn’t it? Lost for over twenty years, yet she was found—apparently, she took the initiative to come back.”
“Tsk, tsk, this kind of plot, usually seen only in novels and short dramas, is actually unfolding in real life?”
After Jiang Chang finished, he heard no reply from Shen Yanzhi and understood that his brother was as indifferent as ever to anything outside work.
Forced to listen, Chi Yu grew somewhat curious. If it were her friend telling her such news, she would have chatted incessantly by now, but the man holding the phone showed no emotion, completely indifferent.
Jiang Chang scratched his nose and continued, “Brother Shen, the young master Su who went to bid on that project was accompanied by the newly returned Su family young lady. The Su family’s banquet next month will invite many peers. Aunt Jiang asked me to bring you along as well...”
Chi Yu thought to herself: Ah! So Aunt Jiang must be the Mrs. Jiang who sent the marriage-pressuring messages earlier.
Mrs. Jiang was truly earnest in trying to find a match for her son.
However, the team Mrs. Jiang chose was clearly not reliable—she just told Jiang Chang this, and Jiang Chang immediately called Shen Yanzhi to spill the beans.
Shen Yanzhi declined cleanly and decisively: “I’m not going.”
Then he hung up.
Regarding the marriage reminders on WeChat, Shen Yanzhi simply replied with one word: [Busy].
After that, he put away his phone and stood up to leave.
Chi Yu was tucked into his pocket, and the phone quickly went dark, plunging her vision into complete blackness. She could only hear some ambient noises outside.
She heard the man exit the office, and many employees greeted him proactively, to which he responded coldly.
Assistant Chen, who was seated at his workstation, hurried to catch up once he saw Shen Yanzhi come out.
The two entered the elevator.
Chi Yu heard Assistant Chen’s voice: “President Shen, will you have lunch at the cafeteria today or attend another engagement?”
Shen Yanzhi replied, “Cafeteria.”

The president often dined with employees in the company cafeteria, so Assistant Chen was unfazed and pressed the elevator button.
In contrast, Chi Yu, still in the pocket, was somewhat shocked upon hearing Shen Yanzhi’s reply.
Such a wealthy and seemingly aloof CEO was surprisingly so down-to-earth and approachable in private?
However, her attention soon shifted as she saw something incredible.
After Shen Yanzhi put the phone in his pocket, the normally dark screen suddenly displayed the words [Charging] in large letters.
Charging???
Chi Yu’s first thought: No wonder this CEO’s phone is so advanced, even the charging method is unique.
But she quickly realized that this [Charging] was not for the phone’s battery.
Even with the screen off, she could clearly see the phone’s status.
It still had 89% battery, and there was no charging icon in the battery indicator at the top right.
The [Charging] prompt appearing on the screen was not about charging the phone’s power.
As Chi Yu pondered the meaning of those words, a large hand suddenly reached into the pocket and grasped her.
She noticed that when Shen Yanzhi pulled the phone out, the [Charging] words on the screen disappeared instantly.
Chi Yu thought: …Huh?
She pushed the doubt aside for the moment.
Back in the light, Chi Yu quickly glanced around through the phone’s camera. It appeared to be the company’s self-built employee cafeteria.
She had already noticed that if she merely observed passively, the camera wouldn’t activate.
Only when her gaze fixed on a certain place, subconsciously using the camera’s zoom function, would the camera open.
