Chi Yu hid inside the phone and watched Shen Yanzhi eat.

The man was focused and serious about everything he did. He had been like that when working, and he was the same when eating.

Assistant Chen sat across from Shen Yanzhi.

After graduating from university, he had followed Shen Yanzhi and was one of his most trusted men.

While eating, Assistant Chen reported work matters to Shen Yanzhi in a low voice.

Shen Yanzhi responded only occasionally.

After the meal, Shen Yanzhi returned to his office to rest.

When he put the phone in his pocket, Chi Yu once again saw the message on the screen: Charging.

But when Shen Yanzhi took the phone back out of his pocket, the message vanished just as quickly.

Back in the office, Shen Yanzhi did not choose to continue working. Instead, he sat on the sofa to relax and rest.

He casually set the phone on the coffee table.

Chi Yu watched him in silence, thinking that this man really did not like using his phone. He even seemed to have a kind of obsessive habit about it: whenever there was a place to put the phone, he would never let it stay on his person for even a minute longer than necessary.

Trapped inside the lock screen, Chi Yu could only pass the time by staring at the ceiling or at Shen Yanzhi.

She failed to notice that the man, whose expression had been calm just moments before, had subtly furrowed his brow, as if enduring something.

There was a private lounge in the office. Shen Yanzhi went in there to rest, and Chi Yu’s spot shifted from the coffee table to the bedside cabinet.

Chi Yu wept inwardly.

Ah, after transmigrating into a phone, she could not even use a phone freely. She might be the most miserable one in the entire crowd of transmigrators.

At three in the afternoon, Shen Yanzhi summoned the company executives for a meeting, something the secretary had already listed on his schedule.

When he came out of the office, he said to Assistant Chen, “Have the technical department check my office.”

His tone was flat. After leaving those words behind, he turned and walked away.

Assistant Chen, left where he stood, became grave at once and took the matter seriously.

For President Shen to say something like that clearly meant he had noticed something unusual, or rather, that he felt his office was no longer safe.

How could that be?

Who would dare tamper with President Shen’s office?

Assistant Chen immediately sent a message to the technical department, telling them to come over at once.

Chi Yu, tucked away in his pocket, also heard Shen Yanzhi’s words. She was just as puzzled and curious. What was wrong with Shen Yanzhi’s office? She had watched him for hours and had not sensed anything unusual in the office, though perhaps she had simply failed to notice it.

Chi Yu did not think much of it.

Although she had transmigrated into Shen Yanzhi’s phone, whether it was Chi Yu or Shen Yanzhi, the two of them were now no different from strangers.

Chi Yu’s attention shifted to something else.

When Shen Yanzhi was in the meeting, he tucked her into his pocket.

This time, he did not place the phone on the table.

Inside his suit pocket, the phone’s darkened screen once again displayed the words: Charging.

And beneath it, even smaller text flickered into view: 1%

Chi Yu was startled.

This was indeed not normal charging.

Curiously, she leaned closer and accidentally touched the 1% beneath the Charging message. Then an option appeared before her:

Exchange for 0.1 minutes of human form?

Yes

No

If Chi Yu had a body, her eyes would have gone wide at that moment.

Human form?

Was it what she was thinking?

Chi Yu could hardly wait to try, even if it was only for six seconds.

Fortunately, reason pulled her back. Staring at the first option for a long while, she reluctantly chose No.

She was currently in Shen Yanzhi’s pocket, and the office contained not only the big boss himself but also other senior executives.

She did not know whether choosing the other answer would send her straight back to her original body, give her a new body, or do something else entirely.

Before she understood what this meant, Chi Yu had no choice but to be cautious.

It had to be said: the existence of this option gave Chi Yu a sudden glimpse of new turning point and hope.

She discovered that as long as she touched that data value, the option from before would appear again.

When her gaze fell on the three words Charging, she no longer thought of them as cold, lifeless text. On the contrary, the more she looked, the more familiar and dear they seemed, the more she liked them.

She also developed a new theory about this charging state.

All three times it had appeared after Shen Yanzhi put the phone in his pocket.

Chances were high that Shen Yanzhi was the medium causing the phone to show charging. The longer the phone stayed in his pocket, the higher the battery value became, and the longer the human-form time she could exchange for would be!

Chi Yu kept an eye on the time and waited patiently. About ten minutes later, the original 1% flickered and changed to 2%.

Chi Yu could not wait to touch it, and then she saw:

Exchange for 0.2 minutes of human form?

Yes

No

As expected!

Her guess was right!

Unable to hide her excitement, Chi Yu even rolled around several times inside Shen Yanzhi’s phone.

When she first discovered she had transmigrated into a phone, Chi Yu had not felt discouraged or desperate. But now that she realized she could become human again, she nearly lost her composure.

After waking up, she had been trying hard to accept and adapt to the fact that she had become a phone. She had never dared imagine that she might actually turn back into a person.

At this moment, the emotions surging in Chi Yu’s heart were no less violent than the sudden rise of towering waves over the sea, perhaps even swifter and more fierce.

Just then, Shen Yanzhi, who was seated at the head of the table during the meeting, suddenly paused. He reached into his pocket and took out the strangely heated phone.

Frowning slightly, he placed the phone on the table and continued the meeting.

Chi Yu, who had lost her charging pocket, was devastated.

A mistake!

She had forgotten that she and the phone were one and the same now. Her overactive brain would cause the phone to run under too much load, making the motherboard heat up.

Clutching that pitiful 0.2 minutes, she silently cried herself into unconsciousness inside the phone.

The meeting lasted nearly an hour and a half. After everyone else had left, only Shen Yanzhi and Assistant Chen remained in the large conference room.

Chi Yu stared at Shen Yanzhi with pleading eyes, hoping he would put the phone back in his pocket.

Shen Yanzhi knew nothing of this. He looked up at Assistant Chen.

Without even waiting for Shen Yanzhi to speak, Assistant Chen understood what he meant.

Setting down the things he had been tidying, Assistant Chen pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “President Shen, the technical department checked your office thoroughly three times. They found no problems at all.”

Whether in private or on business, Shen Yanzhi’s standards were extremely exacting.

Assistant Chen had thought that after hearing this result, the big boss would call the technical staff over and question them personally. Unexpectedly, Shen Yanzhi’s expression remained unchanged, as if he had anticipated the answer all along, and he merely gave a faint nod.

“Mm.”

It was as though having the technical department inspect his office had been nothing more than a passing whim.
