“Hurry up and get to the airport!” Ouyang Junyan shouted into Fang Zhiyin’s ear while she was still in a daze, nearly deafening her.

“No way! There’s still half a day left to film!” Fang Zhiyin snapped back, equally exasperated.

Ouyang Junyan stared at her in disbelief. “Fang Zhiyin, just so you can appear on this show—just to have more excuses to show your face in public—you have to oppose me on everything?”

There it was again, “show your face in public!” Could Mr. Ouyang not use a different expression for once?

“Ouyang, you run a company yourself. Surely you know what ‘integrity’ means?” Fang Zhiyin put her hands on her hips and retorted bluntly.

“You…” Ouyang Junyan let out a disbelieving laugh. “Are you lecturing me?”

“Haven’t I lectured you enough already?”

“You—woman!” With those words, Ouyang Junyan reached out and swept her up in his arms.

A bridal carry? Really?

“Hey! What are you doing?!” Fang Zhiyin pounded him with her fists.

“The way you dragged me here, I’ll return the favor and take you back the same way!” With that, he carried her out of the hotel room.

They promptly ran straight into the director and his team.

This was…

That was…

Ouyang Junyan, Fang Zhiyin, and the director’s party all stared at each other in awkward silence.

“Are we interrupting something?” It was the director who finally broke the tension.

“No, not at all!” Fang Zhiyin, feeling mortified, quickly had Ouyang Junyan put her down.

“Mr. Ouyang, Mrs. Ouyang,” said the director politely, “we just have one last segment to film this morning. Once it’s done, we’ll head to the airport together and fly home.”

At thirty-five, Ouyang Junyan cared about his reputation. Even though he had more than enough money to break his contract with this ridiculous show, the director’s earnest tone kept him from lashing out.

“What’s the last segment?” he asked coldly.

The director shivered under his icy gaze. How could this man, who’d seemed so warm yesterday, turn into such a cold-blooded figure overnight?

Oh! Perhaps he’d had a fight with his wife!

“The last segment is the Ultimate Test of True Love,” the director announced, brimming with excitement.

What kind of nonsensical ordeal was this?

“There are five possible challenges, chosen by drawing lots.”

Someone save her! Fang Zhiyin felt faint at the mere thought. Could someone please knock this director out?

Oblivious to her inner turmoil, the director continued enthusiastically, “There’s the roller coaster, bungee jumping, the haunted house challenge, and…”

Before Fang Zhiyin could fully process the list, the director was already holding the box of lots before them.

“Director, can we not draw?” Fang Zhiyin barely managed to ask when she saw Ouyang Junyan’s hand already plunged into the box.

…Weren’t you the one who hated filming this show the most?

A few seconds later, Ouyang Junyan’s hand emerged holding a small slip of paper.

The director’s assistant unfolded it. The director took one look and exclaimed, “Bungee jumping! Congratulations to you both!”

Congratulations? For this?

“But, director…” The memory of the last paragliding stunt—though it hadn’t happened, she’d nearly been pushed off—made Fang Zhiyin’s heart race and her whole body tremble. “Can’t we choose another challenge?”

“Are you scared, Fang Zhiyin?” To her surprise, Ouyang Junyan scoffed coolly.

This man… Was he really her husband?

Ouyang Junyan knew she was afraid of heights, but he was “getting back” at her for dragging him into this show in the first place.

Riled up, Fang Zhiyin shot back, “If I jump with you, I’m not afraid.”

“Great! Then you can jump together!” The director clapped his hands in delight—it was exactly what he wanted.

What?!

Fang Zhiyin and Ouyang Junyan turned, staring at the director in disbelief.

Who knows what they felt as they sat in the program team’s car heading up the mountain.

Ouyang Junyan kept insisting he wasn’t afraid—he was a grown man, after all—but as soon as he got out and stood at the edge, he hesitated to even look down.

Fang Zhiyin’s face was as pale as a ghost—she truly felt ill.

Seeing their reluctance, the director quickly whipped out his phone and showed them footage of another couple attempting white-water surfing the day before.

Director, is bungee jumping even remotely comparable to white-water surfing?! Fang Zhiyin wanted to yell at him, but she had no strength left.

“Maybe…” Ouyang Junyan’s bravado had faded; seeing his wife so distraught, he was starting to feel sorry for her.

“Let’s give it a try.” To his astonishment, Fang Zhiyin spoke up.

“Did I hear you right?”

“Yes, your hearing is fine.” Though her voice trembled, Fang Zhiyin took a deep breath and spoke with determination.

…She had no idea where her courage was coming from.

They both signed the consent forms, then the staff secured them with all the necessary safety equipment.

Fang Zhiyin’s scalp tingled; she wanted to ask, “Are you sure these safety measures are reliable?” countless times.

The two of them stood frozen in place.

“Alright, let’s not drag this out. We’ll jump—sooner or later, it has to happen.” It was Ouyang Junyan who finally spoke.

Fang Zhiyin kept taking deep breaths, again and again.

They stood there for over an hour, until even the director could barely watch any longer.

“Alright, let’s do it.” Fang Zhiyin finally steeled herself.

With Fang Zhiyin beside him, Ouyang Junyan had no way out. If not for her, he would have walked away long ago.

“Let’s give it a try—once in a lifetime.” Fang Zhiyin cheered herself on.

“Heh.” Ouyang Junyan gave a cold laugh. “If I weren’t your husband, I’d never jump with you.”

“You think I want to?”

Now was not the time for bickering. She shook her head helplessly.

Fang Zhiyin drew a long breath, then turned to the director and announced, “We’re ready. Start filming.”

The director beamed. “Alright! Let’s start rolling!”

The staff instructed Fang Zhiyin and Ouyang Junyan to stand facing each other, each wrapping their arms around the other’s waist.

Why was fate punishing her like this? What had she done wrong?

Ouyang Junyan seemed nonchalant, but inside, he was nervous. He was a CEO, a stern and unyielding man—but this was his first time bungee jumping.

“When I count to three, you both jump!” the staff member called out.

Hearing that, Fang Zhiyin began to tremble from head to toe—even her hair seemed to shake.

Ouyang Junyan sensed her anxiety and instinctively tightened his hold around her waist. “Zhiyin, close your eyes and just follow me down.”

Huh? So gentle, all of a sudden? That wasn’t like him at all.

Before Fang Zhiyin could reply, the staff was already counting: “One, two, three…”

A sudden force shoved them both, and, clinging to each other, they plunged down together.

“Ahhhhhhhh!”
