Chapter Eight: Is This a Movie?
Fang Zhiyin had almost no time to hesitate, for she saw that many people had already taken out their phones and started recording videos. If she were seen by the thirty-five-year-old... even if it was the twenty-eight-year-old Ouyang Junyan, he would surely faint from anger! So, she rushed forward, pushing aside the crowd, and dashed onto the stage.
At that very moment, Ouyang Junyan was preparing to give UI a polite hug.
"W-wife..." Seeing Fang Zhiyin suddenly charge over, Ouyang Junyan was utterly stunned.
"Ouyang! Get down here!" Fang Zhiyin commanded.
"Ah! Miss, what are you doing?" The host quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Are you this gentleman's girlfriend?"
"I'm his wife! I'm taking him down!" Fang Zhiyin replied to the host, then turned to Ouyang Junyan. "You've seen enough, played enough, now come home with me!"
"Why are you so petty?" Ouyang Junyan protested, unwilling.
Fang Zhiyin was taken aback, then took a deep breath. "I'm not petty! I just don't want you to be caught in some video!"
"They can record if they like! I'm not some celebrity, why should I be afraid of being filmed?" With that, he glanced cautiously at UI. "Honey, please wait for me downstairs, just let me hug my idol... just once!"
"Fine!" Fang Zhiyin folded her arms, coldly mocking him. "Go ahead and hug her! But after you do, don’t think you can hug me anymore!"
The atmosphere became unbearably awkward.
The host looked flustered, mouth half open, at a loss for words.
UI had to intervene personally. "Miss, since your boyfriend was chosen to come on stage and interact with me, if you don’t want this opportunity, we can immediately draw someone else..."
"What did you say?!" Fang Zhiyin exclaimed, "You called me... Miss?!"
Clearly, this was about to erupt into a quarrel!
Helpless, Ouyang Junyan grabbed Fang Zhiyin's hand and hurriedly led her off the stage.
On the way back, he was sulking, refusing to say a single word.
Fang Zhiyin hadn’t been truly angry at first, but seeing him stubbornly silent made her realize he was blaming her.
Indeed, dating someone younger... there were so many childish and immature moments!
"Ouyang, tell me, what are you thinking right now?" At last, Fang Zhiyin broke the awkward silence.
"I'm thinking you're so petty!" he replied angrily.
Fang Zhiyin was baffled. "You still think I'm petty?" She found him unreasonable. "If we hadn't left the stage in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable!"
"I was just chasing a star, attending a fan meet—what could possibly go wrong?"
"You don't understand..." Fang Zhiyin struggled to explain.
"In the end, it's just because I'm three years younger than you, so you see me as a child! As someone immature!" Ouyang Junyan's eyes brimmed with tears of frustration.
You are a bit childish... This was the conclusion Fang Zhiyin had reached after spending time with the twenty-five-year-old Ouyang Junyan.
Inside Ouyang Junyan's body lived several personalities, including his original self. At any age, he had many strengths—and quite a few flaws.
People are multifaceted; dividing them simply into good and bad is narrow-minded. Some have more virtues, others have more obvious weaknesses.
Fang Zhiyin, interacting with Ouyang Junyan's various personalities, also examined herself. She knew she was far from perfect or outstanding, with plenty of faults and things about her that each Ouyang Junyan found intolerable. She was working to adjust and improve, hoping to live in harmony with all of them.
More importantly, she knew that one day, Ouyang Junyan’s personalities might disappear, or another could defeat his original self and take over his body... anything was possible! She needed to find the most suitable, comfortable way to interact with each, separately.
Ah! The very thought made her head spin!
Fang Zhiyin always drove, whether she was taking Ouyang Junyan to a fan meeting or the two of them returning home. Meanwhile, Ouyang Junyan sat in the back seat like a wronged child, shrinking so close to the window he almost touched the glass.
Fang Zhiyin glared at him in the rearview mirror, saying nothing.
Who knew how much time passed.
"Fang Zhiyin!"
Suddenly, from behind, a calm and controlled voice called her name, startling Fang Zhiyin.
"What is it?" She looked at Ouyang Junyan in the rearview mirror and saw his expression had changed. "Ouyang?"
Which Ouyang was this?
"Pull over. Let’s switch—I’ll drive."
From his tone, it had to be the twenty-eight-year-old Ouyang Junyan!
Without time for questions, Fang Zhiyin quickly and decisively parked by the roadside, then slipped into the passenger seat.
In just two minutes, Ouyang Junyan had restarted the car.
Seeing her real husband return, Fang Zhiyin finally relaxed.
With the genuine Ouyang Junyan, she felt reassured.
"Ouyang, what’s wrong?" Sensing his odd expression, Fang Zhiyin was puzzled.
"Did you see that silver car behind us?" Ouyang Junyan glanced in the rearview mirror, face tense.
"I see it!" Fang Zhiyin checked the mirror at once.
"I think it's following us," he said quietly.
"How could that be?!" Chen Meiyi looked at the rearview mirror in shock, watching the silver car draw closer and closer. She wondered—she and Ouyang Junyan hadn’t done anything, why would someone chase them?
"Zhiyin, hold on tight!" The next moment, Ouyang Junyan floored the gas pedal, the car accelerating sharply.
Fang Zhiyin was stunned.
She had never seen Ouyang Junyan drive fast! Instinctively, she grabbed the handle, as Ouyang Junyan deftly overtook several cars, made a beautiful right turn, and sped onto a secluded road.
What was this?
Was it... drifting?
If she hadn’t witnessed it herself, Fang Zhiyin would have thought she and Ouyang Junyan were filming a movie.
No one would have guessed that, fast as his car was, the silver car behind them also picked up speed. He took a deep breath and pressed the accelerator again.
In just a few minutes, Chen Meiyi was left dumbfounded. If she weren’t holding onto the car, she would have applauded him right then!
She had no idea... her husband could be so handsome behind the wheel!
Fang Zhiyin stared at Ouyang Junyan in amazement.
From her angle, she saw only the right side of his face, full of determination and reassurance.
After a while, Fang Zhiyin heard Ouyang Junyan’s breathing.
"Are we safe?" she asked.
"For now, yes."
