Yet Fang Zhiyin’s devout expression unexpectedly moved Ouyang Junyan. The next moment, his voice softened considerably. “Alright, I grant it.”

“Hey! Be more sincere!” Fang Zhiyin admonished him, tapping his head like an elder sister when she saw his attitude.

Ouyang Junyan’s cheeks flushed again for no apparent reason.

Five seconds later, the small compartment carrying Fang Zhiyin and Ouyang Junyan finally reached the highest point of the Ferris wheel. As Fang Zhiyin closed her eyes, Ouyang had no choice but to follow suit.

Both of them pressed their palms together and made a wish to the sky.

Fang Zhiyin’s wish was simple and easy to guess: she hoped Ouyang Junyan would recover soon.

Ouyang Junyan had intended to make a wish related to Lin Nana, but inexplicably, Fang Zhiyin’s face appeared in his mind.

The next moment, uncontrollably, he made a wish: “I hope Fang Zhiyin will always be happy!”

When Fang Zhiyin opened her eyes after making her wish, she was startled to find Ouyang Junyan’s face right in front of her. She had no idea when he had leaned in; his handsome face was so close that she could see every pore clearly.

She gazed at him quietly, as if admiring a work of art.

They hadn’t looked at each other this closely in a long time.

Perhaps in Fang Zhiyin’s eyes, no matter the time, age, or personality, Ouyang Junyan was always attractive and composed, so radiant that one could hardly bear to look away.

When Ouyang Junyan opened his eyes, he was nearly frightened into screaming by Fang Zhiyin’s face so close to his own.

“Ouyang, may I ask you another question?”

“Why do you have so many questions?”

They weren’t strangers to speaking at such close range, but Fang Zhiyin felt a strange illusion—it seemed like this was her first time being so near to the eighteen-year-old Ouyang Junyan.

“What do you most want to do now, besides the usual classes?”

After asking this, Fang Zhiyin seemed to have used up all her strength; her eyes sparkled and her cheeks flushed.

“Why do you ask?” Ouyang Junyan thought she was going to ask another superficial question about likes and dislikes, but was surprised by her inquiry.

“Just answer me! I want to know you better!” Fang Zhiyin said resolutely.

“Well…” He hesitated.

“Have you ever thought about what kind of job you’d like after graduation?” Fang Zhiyin prompted gently.

“To become a musician. Is that too far-fetched?”

Only after the Ferris wheel returned to the ground did Ouyang Junyan finally stammer out his answer.

What?!

Fang Zhiyin couldn’t believe her ears, her eyes wide with astonishment. “You have a dream of music?”

“Yes!” Ouyang Junyan’s face was flushed, whether from excitement or embarrassment she couldn’t tell. “Big sister, I don’t know why I blurted it out when you asked. Anyway… don’t tell anyone else.”

“Then why did you choose finance as your major?” Fang Zhiyin pressed on.

“My parents wanted me to study finance, so I had to follow their wishes.”

“No one else knows about your dream of music?” Fang Zhiyin was surprised. “Have you ever told Lin Nana?”

“No.” He answered honestly.

How strange—why had he confided in this big sister? Even Ouyang Junyan couldn’t figure it out.

Learning that Ouyang Junyan loved music but had kept it buried in his heart shocked Fang Zhiyin so much she couldn’t recover for a long moment. Before this, she had fancied herself the woman who loved him most in the world; now, on reflection, it seemed laughable.

But thinking further, Ouyang’s true character was always unemotional; whatever he felt, he never shared with others. It was only natural she didn’t know.

Still… after loving him for so many years, to only now discover he harbored a dream for music felt somehow wrong.

Seeing Fang Zhiyin’s disappointed expression, Ouyang Junyan wondered what was wrong, thinking she no longer wished to spend time with him. “Big sister, do you want to play alone?” he asked.

…What girl would ever want to come to an amusement park alone? Truly, a straightforward boy!

“Do you want to keep playing?” Fang Zhiyin asked him.

“Oh, I’m a bit tired.”

“Then let’s leave together.” Fang Zhiyin was eager to talk more, to understand his inner world better.

At this age, boys are in their adolescence, sometimes stubborn, sometimes irritable, but with a little care, they are quick to share their thoughts.

Fang Zhiyin took him into a taxi.

The driver started the car.

Halfway through the ride, Fang Zhiyin noticed that Ouyang Junyan kept glancing backward.

“What’s wrong?” She paused, seeing his uneasy expression.

“Do you see that black car behind us?” Ouyang Junyan said nervously.

She turned immediately and saw a black car closely following their taxi. “There is a black car…”

“I feel that car is tailing us,” he said thoughtfully.

“How can that be?!” Fang Zhiyin was about to ask if he’d watched too many TV dramas, but the black car drew closer and closer, undeniably strange.

“Driver, could you please speed up?” Fang Zhiyin called out.

The driver accelerated at once.

The car behind them stayed on their tail.

“Who are the people behind? Who are you anyway?” The driver asked, a little flustered.

“We don’t know either!” Fang Zhiyin thought, could this be trouble caused by another of Ouyang’s personalities?

“Alright! Hold on tight!” Unexpectedly, the driver proved to be quite loyal, flooring the accelerator. The car sped up dramatically.

Both passengers instinctively gripped the handles beside them.

Meanwhile, the driver cut ahead of several cars, then made a deft right turn onto a secluded road.

“Wow! You’re amazing, driver! Are you some anonymous racing legend?” Fang Zhiyin, worried about causing trouble for him, showered him with exaggerated praise.

Ouyang Junyan was once again amazed.

“Of course, when I was young…” The driver’s words were interrupted as the black car reappeared in the rearview mirror, still following closely!

He cursed, took a deep breath, and sped up once more.

Fang Zhiyin and Ouyang were dumbfounded; if not for holding onto the handles, they would have applauded the driver.

After nightfall, because the driver had steered onto a quiet road, there were no streetlights! Though the headlights were bright, the deserted road looked eerie and frightening.

Fang Zhiyin felt her breath halt, as if she were in a horror film!

Then, after driving a bit further, the driver saw the car behind had dropped off and finally let out a sigh of relief. “Alright, it’s fine now.”

Was it really fine?

“Thank you so much, driver!” Fang Zhiyin gasped her gratitude.

Yet…

The next moment, the driver in the front seat suddenly turned around and, to her and Ouyang Junyan’s shock, gave them a sinister smile. “You’re welcome.”

Those words were delivered so chillingly!
