Chapter Thirty-Seven: Enltjoy Finally Makes His Move—Everything Falls Into Place
“Hahaha, excellent wine, excellent wine!” Mingchuan, Enert, and Colt sat leisurely in the tea house, drinking together.
“Not bad, as expected from an old brand—it’s lasted a thousand years without being replaced.” Mingchuan seemed to hold this drink in high regard, but...
“Mingchuan, I heard you’re still just a high school student. Drinking alcohol—aren’t your parents angry at you?” Enert asked curiously.
“Well, I’m actually not much of a model student! Fighting and such is pretty much routine for me, not to mention drinking.”
“If you’re not a good student, wouldn’t the school have expelled you by now? After all, bad students—”
“Are you saying bad students have poor grades? In fact, I’m the MVP of the school’s report card. The school’s long since chosen to turn a blind eye to my behavior.”
“MVP!” Enert and Colt could hardly believe Mingchuan’s astonishing academic record. “Shouldn’t you have graduated and gone to college already?”
“If it weren’t for my childhood friend dragging me along, I wouldn’t even bother with high school. After all, I’ve already finished all the college courses.”
“You seem like a real academic ace, but why is Miss Wenxin so bad at her studies? With an accomplished childhood friend, she should be doing better, shouldn’t she?”
“Hahaha,” Mingchuan laughed. “Wenxin? She’s hardly my childhood friend. She just transferred here and I brought her along. She’s been clinging to me since the moment we met—there’s something a bit odd about her, honestly.”
“Oh, is that so? I must have misunderstood!” Enert only now realized his mistake, and it seemed to trouble him.
“But you and Joey must be true childhood friends, right? Or is it the same as me?” Mingchuan seemed to see his own reflection in Enert.
“No, no, Joey and I really are childhood friends. But…” Enert paused, then continued, “But her parents look down on me because I’m just the descendant of a fallen noble. So, until I completely dispel her parents’ prejudices, I can’t truly fulfill the dream of marrying Joey.”
“Hey, you! Her parents aren’t here now, are they? Build your relationship with her while you can—don’t let Joey run off with someone else. That’s my advice as a friend!” Colt couldn’t bear it anymore; his tone held a hint of command.
“But…” Enert wanted to say more, but Colt pulled him up from the sofa.
“Enough procrastinating, go now—immediately!” With that, Colt dragged Enert to the door and gave him a nudge, as if he were a shopkeeper shooing out a customer. But that gentle push happened to send him straight into Joey, who was just passing by.
“Joey, what are you doing here?” Enert was surprised, but Joey…
“Of course, I followed you in secret to listen. I heard everything you just said. I never imagined you’d endure so much for me, Enert…”
“Joey…” Enert tried to speak, but Joey wouldn’t let him.
“Enert, why can’t you try to develop our relationship while also finding a way to make my parents accept you? Perhaps the day they accept you will be the day we get married!”
“But…” Enert hesitated, and Mingchuan couldn’t stand it anymore. “At least stand up while you talk—aren’t you cold sitting on the floor?” Though still drinking at his seat, Mingchuan was well aware of what was happening behind him.
“Uh, well,” Enert immediately got up and helped Joey to her feet. “From now on, I’ll do my best to love you wholeheartedly—for love!”
“For love!” Joey echoed.
“Well done, Enert, you’ve finally completed your romantic quest,” Mingchuan also rose from the sofa and walked over. “Joey, why not call Wenxin over, so Enert can make his announcement? The more witnesses, the more blessings!”
“Alright, I’ll go right away!” With that, Joey dashed off. Once Mingchuan was sure Joey couldn’t hear them, he pulled Enert and Colt aside, his expression serious.
“Gentlemen, I need your help with something.”
Sensing the sudden shift in atmosphere, Enert and Colt grew tense. “Just say the word!”
“I need you to help me investigate Wenxin!”...

Just got back from school, and before doing my homework, I decided to update with a new chapter. Oh well! Honestly, I’m not planning to do homework anyway. By the way, since I have a lot of draft material, I might revise or delete quite a bit. I’m not sure if the original or this version is better, so please bear with me.
