Boom.

Without a word, Zhou Changsheng’s eyes turned cold. His right hand shot out, curling into a claw that resembled a true dragon. Though it was flesh and blood, it gleamed with metallic radiance, shattering the space it passed through.

The Holy Demon remained still, raising his right hand slightly, forming his fingers into a sword shape. It was as if a master swordsman was unleashing the most brilliant strike of his lifetime.

Clang!

Although both were physical beings, the collision rang out with a sharp clash of metal and iron.

After the strike, Zhou Changsheng ceased his movements and snorted coldly.

“Holy Demon, if you keep spouting nonsense and want to drop this matter, then prepare yourself for the endless pursuit of the Zhou family.”

“Those two friends of your grandson are natives of the Godforsaken Land,” the Holy Demon said, glancing at Zhou Tian.

“I don’t care about their identity. Since they are my grandson’s friends, I must protect their lives. Holy Demon, I advise you to choose your words carefully. Why exactly do you want to become a retainer of the Zhou family?” Zhou Changsheng’s body blazed like a furnace, his fierce gaze fixed on the Holy Demon.

“Fine, fine,” the Holy Demon said resignedly. “I’m scared of your Zhou family, alright? I don’t want to face the pursuit of your clan, so I’m giving in.”

“Why didn’t you consider the consequences when you attacked my grandson?” Zhou Changsheng’s anger surged like a river as he questioned the Holy Demon.

“I rose from nothing, without background or power. Naturally, I have to seize every opportunity,” the Holy Demon frowned slightly and continued, “Even a Heavenly King-level warrior is not insignificant to you. Zhou Tian has already let go of his grudge against me. I don't want to drag these issues out any longer.”

Zhou Changsheng looked at Zhou Tian. Zhou Tian understood his meaning and spoke up, “He’s right.”

Receiving confirmation from Zhou Tian, Zhou Changsheng fell silent. The Holy Demon was indeed correct—a Heavenly King-level warrior was invaluable to them.

Though these great powers could send out several Heavenly King-level warriors, each was the result of countless years of effort and tremendous cost, making each one precious beyond measure.

Having one more Heavenly King-level warrior was a great advantage for any faction, especially since the Holy Demon might potentially become a seed of the Dao Master.

“Holy Demon, I don’t care who supports you or what deals you’ve made. But you should know the rules of the Zhou family—once you become a retainer, you must never lay a hand against any member of our family again.”

After a long silence, Zhou Changsheng finally agreed. There was no irreparable hatred between the Zhou family and the Holy Demon. Zhou Tian had not really been harmed, so there was still room for reconciliation.

“I hope we’ll have a pleasant relationship going forward,” the Holy Demon said as he stood up, a smile spreading across his face, revealing six pearly white teeth.

“I much prefer your other personality,” Zhou Changsheng said coldly.

“Then I’ll let him come out and greet you,” the Holy Demon replied.

Demonic energy surged forth as the demon persona took control, laughing heartily, shaking the void.

“Zhou Changsheng, I never thought I’d become a retainer of your family one day.”

“Why don’t you seek shelter with the Luo Tian Temple? Aren’t you entangled with them?” Zhou Changsheng asked. He and the Holy Demon were contemporaries, once both prodigies. Though they had fought countless times, they could also be called rivals and friends.

“That bald monk is hard to get along with, and they hide too many secrets. I’m afraid I’d be bought off by them if I’m not careful,” the Holy Demon’s demon persona said straightforwardly, much more candid than before.

“Enough. Come with me. There’s still a procedure to complete. Tian, I’ve already notified the others. Tianling is waiting outside. You can go out on your own,” Zhou Changsheng said.

After becoming retainers of the Zhou family, not only must those people fight for the Zhou family, but the family must also invest many resources and take precautions, which required reporting to the family and setting up various measures.

Zhou Changsheng and the Holy Demon left, while Zhou Tian walked out alone. It had been a long time since he last saw Tianling, and thinking about it made him a little excited.

Once outside, Zhou Tian saw a figure standing quietly—dressed in white clothes and boots, with black silk hair cascading like a waterfall, eyes like waves, quietly watching him. It was Tianling, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time.

A smile appeared on Zhou Tian’s face as he hurried forward. Approaching Tianling, he stretched out his arms for a big hug.

“Miss me?”

“No,” Tianling said, glaring fiercely at Zhou Tian and dodging his embrace. Her eyes seemed to shimmer with a layer of mist.

“Uh… didn’t I have Zhang Yi report your safety to you?” Zhou Tian scratched his head, unsure why she was upset.

“Zhang Yi hasn’t returned yet. How could he report to me?” Tianling said, her worry easing but an inexplicable emotion brewing. Looking at the smiling Zhou Tian before her, she bore a trace of grievance.

Zhou Tian fell silent. Counting carefully, it had been less than a month since Zhang Yi left, coming from a remote corner to here. The time was indeed short.

“You should have come with me back then,” Zhou Tian said with a hint of schadenfreude.

“What do you mean?” Tianling looked puzzled, not understanding what Zhou Tian was talking about.

“Nothing. Zhang Yi is just an unlucky guy,” Zhou Tian chuckled.

Before the two could continue their banter, a lazy voice came from afar.

“I said our Crown Prince of Qin would definitely return safely.”

Zhou Zui, Liu Yan, and Li Xuanyi approached from a distance. Zhou Zui smiled teasingly.

“Tianling sister, you must have been worried sick during this time,” he said.

Liu Yan exuded a strong aura of killing intent, radiating heat with a faint scarlet stain on his clothes, as if just returning from battle. He teased them.

Li Xuanyi nodded his head. Carrying a long sword, he was as gentle and refined as jade, without any sharpness, his swordsmanship having reached perfection.

“Thanks to all of you, I was lucky to come back,” Zhou Tian smiled. It had been a while since they last met, and this reunion brought a warm feeling. Then he asked, “Why just the three of you? What about the Third Prince and the others?”

“They all went hunting. Those battle maniacs—don’t mention you, even we hardly see them,” Zhou Zui said.

“We’ve already greeted them. Let’s go. We won’t disturb your reunion,” Liu Yan said. They didn’t want to be third wheels.

After the three left, Zhou Tian and Tianling didn’t stay together long. Zhou Tian was soon summoned by Zhou Changsheng.

Inside the room, Zhou Changsheng sat on a chair, with Mu Su and Ling Yu standing beside him. Zhou Changsheng had already reclaimed them from the Holy Demon.

“Senior, Mu Su and I will take our leave now,” Ling Yu said thoughtfully, clearly sensing that Zhou Changsheng and Zhou Tian had matters to discuss. She understood how profound the forces behind Zhou Tian were and dared not neglect them. So she took her leave.
