Chapter Ninety-Four: The Invincible Radiant Crimson Flame Fist That Could Destroy Heaven and Earth
When Zhou Tian went out again to promote his self-invented method of prayer, he immediately noticed that the atmosphere in the streets had changed greatly. There were very few white-robed believers now, and everyone hurried along with anxious steps.
He had not gone far before he ran straight into Musu, who was hurrying toward him.
Musu also saw Zhou Tian and frowned.
“Where are you going?”
“Just out for a walk,” Zhou Tian replied.
“For the next couple of days, don’t go out. It’s said that heretical believers have infiltrated Seiler City and defiled the Lord of the Divine…”
Before Musu could finish, he looked at Zhou Tian with a strange expression, glanced around, and lowered his voice.
“Could it be you…”
When Musu had first heard the news, he had not thought much of it; he had only sighed over it. But now, the moment he saw Zhou Tian, that bizarre thought suddenly surfaced. Could this troublesome fellow actually be one of those “heretical believers”?
“How could that be? How can you slander an innocent man like this?”
Zhou Tian felt a little guilty, but then he remembered that he was not some member of a heretical sect after all, and immediately became righteous and confident.
“All right. You came looking for me, so you must have found out something. Come with me.”
Seeing that Musu was about to keep talking nonsense, Zhou Tian quickly changed the subject, turned around, and headed back toward his lodgings.
Musu followed behind him.
“Your mortal enemy is being held in the Inquisition,” Musu said after entering the room. Where they were imprisoned was not really a secret. After spending two days playing along with a guard, Musu had very easily pried it out of him.
“The Inquisition?”
Zhou Tian was somewhat puzzled and looked at Musu.
“The Inquisition is beneath the Central Cathedral, heavily guarded by many experts of the sect.”
“Beneath the Central Cathedral? Do you know the exact location?”
Zhou Tian continued to ask. Knowing only that it was beneath the Central Cathedral was not enough; he needed the precise place.
“The exact location?”
Musu frowned.
“Although everyone knows the Inquisition is under the Central Cathedral, very few people know exactly where.”
“All right.”
Zhou Tian did not press the matter. Musu had very few connections here; being able to learn this much was already quite good. To expect him to gather deeper intelligence would be nothing more than wishful thinking.
“Ah, right…”
A thought stirred in Zhou Tian’s mind, and he asked,
“Do you know about the Voodoo Church?”
Musu looked up at him and was silent for a moment before saying, “The Voodoo Church is a sect of evil gods, devoted to the Lord of Voodoo. Its doctrine holds that the body is only a prison, and that freedom of the soul is the ultimate release.”
“Oh.”
Zhou Tian nodded in sudden understanding. No wonder that bald archbishop had said he was a believer in the Voodoo Church; he must have thought Zhou Tian was using his divine soul to control his body and create the illusion of resurrection.
“How does one enter the Inquisition? Do you know?”
“What are you asking that for?”
Musu found it a little strange.
“Nothing. I’m just asking.”
Zhou Tian smiled and said no more.
“Those held in the Inquisition are all followers of evil gods. Aside from people killed on the spot, every evil god believer imprisoned there will be judged in the presence of all the faithful!”
“I understand.”
Zhou Tian nodded, deep in thought.
Watching Zhou Tian lower his head and think, Musu kept having a bad feeling.
...
Later that evening, Musu left Zhou Tian’s place with a heavy heart, always feeling that Zhou Tian was planning something.
As for Zhou Tian, he wandered around near the Central Cathedral, his eyes glancing at the ground. Once he reached a deserted spot, his figure blurred and vanished.
He reappeared in the same place almost instantly, looking pained.
“What a loss. I wasted one resurrection.”
Just now, he had teleported deep underground to see whether he could find the Inquisition, but he was immediately crushed into dust by the utterly dense earth. What was especially infuriating was that the system had counted this as suicide, so it did not even add to his death tally. That was truly miserable.
“Then there’s only one way.”
Zhou Tian stroked his chin and remembered what Musu had told him.
He was not going to rescue Zhang Yi directly right now; he merely wanted to get word to him. After all, charging in blindly would not save Zhang Yi at all.
Taking out a mask and putting it on, Zhou Tian had noticed during this period that these believers and cultivators seemed, for some reason, not to use divine sense. At first he thought it was a rule of this place, but later, before that bald archbishop, he had been wearing a mask, and the archbishop had actually been unable to detect his identity. It was truly an interesting thing.
He teleported to the steps before the Central Cathedral’s main entrance. Instantly, countless people who had come to pray turned their eyes toward him, because his appearance was far too eye-catching.
Zhou Tian steadied himself and took a deep breath.
“Long live the Lord of Voodoo! The Church of the Divine is trash!”
His shout startled everyone nearby, and at the same time they turned angrily toward Zhou Tian. To dare blaspheme the Church of the Divine before the Central Cathedral was simply courting death!
“Kill him!”
A believer roared, his face full of rage. Milky-white light surged up, and a holy sword dozens of zhang long appeared, fierce as wind and thunder, thrusting straight toward Zhou Tian!
Just as I expected, Zhou Tian’s eyes flashed. The holy sword had only just touched him when it vanished instantly, already sealed away by him.
At the same time, his figure disappeared from where he stood and appeared at the cathedral’s entrance. With a wave of his hand, a white holy sword appeared, radiating mighty power, though it was slightly smaller in size.
Clang!
A clear ring sounded as the holy sword struck the cathedral’s stone pillar, scattering grit and carving out a gaping notch.
“Who dares behave so outrageously!”
A thunderous shout rang out. A man flew out from the cathedral, clad in silver armor engraved with intricate patterns, some places even bearing faint cracks. His face was aged, yet he carried an authority that needed no anger to command respect. His eyes blazed with fury as he glared at Zhou Tian, seeming almost to burst from their sockets.
“It’s the cathedral knight, Lord Boer!”
Someone’s face filled with reverence. Every cathedral had a cathedral knight to guard it, and as the capital of the holy city, the cathedral knight of the Central Cathedral was especially formidable.
“Long live the Voodoo Church! The Church of the Divine is just a little brother!”
Zhou Tian shouted at the top of his lungs, feeling himself fill with righteous fervor. If only he had had a couple of bombs on him.
“You’re courting death!”
The old man was so furious his beard bristled and his eyes bulged. It had been how many years since he had seen an evil god believer so arrogantly act out in the holy city? In ancient times, the Church of the Divine had already been a colossal power in the divine realm; even now, in the Land Forsaken by the Gods, it remained among the strongest of the surviving sects.
Light surged around him. His blood and vitality blazed like a rainbow as his body shot forward in an instant, tearing cracks through the void.
Flames ignited on his fist. With a sonic boom, he hurled it straight toward Zhou Tian.
Zhou Tian neither dodged nor evaded, standing motionless in place.
The fist slammed into Zhou Tian, yet there was no scene of his body exploding as Boer had imagined. Instead, it felt as though he had struck empty air. A wave of powerlessness flooded his heart; all the force in his fist was drawn away, and even the flames were extinguished.
Zhou Tian grinned and gave a shout.
“World-Ending, Heaven-Destroying, Invincible Radiant Crimson Flame Fist!”
Flames roared up around his fist as he unleashed an unmatched force, smashing it into Boer at point-blank range.
