Chapter 111: I Have Never Acted (Part 1)
"Yeah! That's great! Sister-in-law! I love you to death!" Yang Xiaoqing threw herself at Qin Nuanyu, planting a loud kiss right on her cheek before dashing upstairs to call her sister.
Yang Xiaofan glanced at Qin Nuanyu with a hint of helplessness.
"You're spoiling her. Sooner or later, you'll end up spoiling her rotten."
Qin Nuanyu smiled softly, pursing her lips.
"As a sister-in-law, shouldn't I get along well with my little sister-in-law?"
Yang Xiaofan had no retort, only shaking his head.
Soon, the group left the house and headed to the city by car.
Zhao Liufang proved to be very reliable. First, he took Yang Xiaofan and Qin Nuanyu to his bridal studio for measurements in preparation for their outfits.
The Zhao Group’s photography studio was as luxurious as he had described—truly top of the line.
The wedding dresses available here were far beyond those one might find in the market. Every gown was high-end, even the samples for fitting cost over five thousand yuan each.
For ordinary people, buying a decent wedding dress on Taobao might only cost a few hundred yuan. Here, thousands were spent just on trial and photography gowns.
It was undeniable luxury.
Since Zhao Liufang had arranged only the best for Yang Xiaofan’s package, they didn’t need to browse much. Once their measurements were uploaded and the dresses ordered, they could start shooting.
Afterward, Zhao Liufang took them to a renowned film base located in the suburbs.
This film base was famous nationwide and ranked among the largest. It featured an astonishing variety of scenes: deserts, seas, lakes, mountains—you name it. Even ancient city walls and imperial palaces had been meticulously recreated.
It felt as though one had traveled back in time.
Such diverse sets could satisfy all kinds of filming needs.
Upon arrival, everyone was captivated by the scenery, especially Yang Xiaoqing, who couldn’t contain her excitement.
"Wow! Sister-in-law, look! That mountain is so tall!"
"Sister Yun, look, look! There’s a herd of horses here!"
"Wow—brother, quick, look! There are people filming a drama! That person looks like a big star!"
Yang Xiaofan could only stare in disbelief. Yang Xiaoqing was shouting so loudly, utterly lacking any trace of ladylike grace. It was truly embarrassing.
If he had known this, he wouldn’t have brought her along.
Zhao Liufang said nothing but smiled warmly and introduced the place.
"This base is a joint venture between our group and three other film companies. The sets here are incredibly realistic. Over the years, many classic dramas have been filmed here. Recently, the hit web series ‘Urban Absolute Warrior Doctor’ was shot right here, produced by our company."
Yang Xiaoqing eagerly raised her hand.
"I know, I know! It’s ‘The Return of the War God,’ where the five-year-old daughter lives in a doghouse! It was all the rage lately; our classmates are still watching the spin-offs."
Zhao Liufang nodded with a smile before continuing to Yang Xiaofan.
"This time, we’re filming a movie derived from the urban soldier king theme—‘The Urban Demonic Young Master.’ It’s by the same author as the previous one. As you know, adapting web novels into dramas is the trend these days."
"Although it’s based on web literature, we’ve invested heavily. Just the cast alone took a lot of effort. To be honest, unless you’re a top-tier star, there’s no chance to join the main cast. Besides, we have a national treasure-level veteran actor lending his full support. The acting standards are impeccable."
Yang Xiaofan nodded.
It was clear Zhao Liufang was determined to make this film a success.
Luckily, he had the power-up system that could elevate his acting to a grandmaster level.
Otherwise, facing off against so many A-list stars and a national treasure actor would be utterly humiliating.
The convoy soon arrived at the shooting location. Upon seeing the stars, Yang Xiaoqing was so thrilled she could hardly speak.
"Brother... brother... brother, look, look! It’s Teacher Chen! And King Zhang! That woman is my favorite star, Yang Tao! Oh my god, I’m so happy I’m about to faint."
Yang Xiaofan shot her a sharp look.
"Your ambitions are so limited."
If it were before, Yang Xiaoqing would have argued back immediately.
But now, overwhelmed by joy and dizziness, she could barely control herself.
Zhao Liufang approached and greeted the group.
"Teacher Chen, King Zhang, Tao Tao, sorry to keep you waiting."
These were influential figures in the entertainment industry. Most small companies would treat them like royalty.
But Zhao Liufang, as an investor with even greater behind-the-scenes clout, treated them casually.
They showed him respect in return, no airs or bad attitudes.
"Mr. Zhao, you flatter us. We’re just about to start shooting today," Teacher Chen said.
"Perfect timing. Today, Mr. Yang will observe and maybe try to see if he can fit in," Zhao Liufang said.
Teacher Chen glanced at Yang Xiaofan with a neutral expression.
"Have you acted before?"
Yang Xiaofan shook his head.
Of course not. Coming from the countryside, where would he have the chance?
Seeing this, Teacher Chen raised an eyebrow.
Though he respected Zhao Liufang, when it came to acting, he was never careless.
"Mr. Zhao, we insist on the highest quality for this production. Since he has no experience, it might be difficult for him to keep up. Having him act might not be appropriate."
Zhao Liufang chuckled.
"I know that. Mr. Yang has never acted before—that’s unavoidable since he’s not from this field. But people can learn. Teacher Chen, please help guide him and see if he can improve."
"You know how hard it is to make a movie popular these days. We need some hype and momentum. If this film really explodes in popularity, it could become an eternal classic, right?"
