Yang Xiaofan feigned an expression of pure innocence. "Zheng Kang, what do you mean by that? It’s true that you came to see me yesterday, but you came to threaten me. I certainly never instigated you to commit murder!"

Seeing Yang Xiaofan’s act of innocence, Zheng Kang felt his teeth itch with rage. "You little bastard, are you still pretending to be innocent? This was all planned by you from the very beginning, wasn't it? You tricked me, making me mistakenly believe that Li Dacheng was the one pulling the strings behind the scenes! But in reality, you are the only one behind all of this! I must have been blind to ever trust a monster like you!"

Yang Xiaofan immediately put on a serious face. "Zheng Kang, if you continue to say such things, I will have to sue you for slander."

"I intend to say it! What can you do about it? Yang Xiaofan, it was you who instigated me to kill in that hotel. Our Zheng Group has no money left; I needed cash, and you told me you could provide it, but only if I killed Li Dacheng! This was all your doing."

Yang Xiaofan couldn't help but shake his head helplessly. Zheng Kang had clearly lost his mind, lashing out at anyone like a mad dog. He was determined to drag Yang Xiaofan down with him. On one hand, he truly hated Yang Xiaofan to the bone; on the other, he felt he had leverage because he really had met with Yang Xiaofan before the murder. Relying on that alone, he felt invincible. After all, no one could prove that he hadn't been instigated. Sometimes, even without evidence, you can still be deemed guilty.

Just then, Zheng Kang sneered and whispered, "Yang Xiaofan, you have two choices now. First, you get me out of here. I know you have the connections—you know countless people! At the very least, you could find a way to have me declared insane or something. If you keep me from dying, I’ll let you go. Otherwise, we go down together."

Yang Xiaofan rolled his eyes. *I went through all the trouble of setting this trap for you; do you really think I’d let you trap me in return? If I hadn't prepared for this eventuality, I would have lived in vain.*

At that moment, the police began their interrogation.

"Yang Xiaofan, according to Zheng Kang’s statement, you promised him in the hotel last night that if he killed Li Dacheng, you would give him a sum of money. Is that true?"

Yang Xiaofan shrugged. "Officer, how is that possible? Do I look like that kind of person? I’m living a perfectly happy life; why would I go out of my way to incite murder? I’m not an idiot! Besides, I have no grudge against Li Dacheng. Why would I want him dead? Most importantly, Zheng Kang is the young master of the Zheng Group—he’s much wealthier than I am. Would he really take my money to commit murder? Even a child could see that's impossible."

Yang Xiaofan had mentioned the Zheng family's bankruptcy on purpose. It was partly to goad Zheng Kang, but also to maintain his facade of ignorance, which fit his narrative better.

"The Zheng family’s company is currently in crisis and could go bankrupt at any moment, so it’s normal for Zheng Kang to need money."

"As for you and Li Dacheng, we have learned that you did have a conflict. He once harassed your girlfriend and was subsequently fired by your friend, Mu Shuyu. Is that correct?"

Yang Xiaofan nodded. "That's correct!"

Zheng Kang looked at Yang Xiaofan with a sinister, triumphant smirk, as if his scheme had already succeeded. In reality, the situation for Yang Xiaofan looked dire; he had no evidence to prove his innocence, and if nothing changed, he would likely be charged. It seemed he would be left with only the two choices Zheng Kang had offered.

Unfortunately for Zheng Kang, he had overlooked one detail, while Yang Xiaofan was fully prepared.

Yang Xiaofan smiled. "Actually, there is no need for anyone to suspect me. I have a habit of wearing a miniature camera on my person at all times. As you know, I’m somewhat of a public figure, and I often run into trouble, so I have to be careful."

The room fell silent. It wasn't surprising—just as cars have dashcams, people could carry cameras too. Given Yang Xiaofan's status, it was a reasonable precaution. Upon hearing this, the smile on Zheng Kang’s face vanished, replaced by sheer shock and despair.

"Impossible! Impossible! I don't believe it! How could this happen?"

Yang Xiaofan shrugged at him again. "I'm sorry, but I won't be joining you in prison."

With that, he removed a micro-camera from his collar and handed it to the police. After reviewing the footage, the officers confirmed that Yang Xiaofan had nothing to do with the crime. More importantly, the recording captured Zheng Kang’s threats against Yang Xiaofan, further proving that Zheng Kang was lying and framing him.

"Alright, Mr. Yang, you are cleared and are free to leave. We apologize for the trouble and for making you come down here. Thank you for your cooperation."

"It’s no trouble. You’re the ones working hard for the public. By the way, could I have a final word with Zheng Kang? We are, after all, acquaintances."

"Very well, but keep it brief—no more than a minute or two."

"Thank you."

Yang Xiaofan walked over to Zheng Kang and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear: "Actually, your intuition was right."

Zheng Kang’s pupils constricted.

Yang Xiaofan continued, "I was the one who sabotaged the Zheng Group’s network. I did it myself. That afternoon, right after you left Sister Shuyu’s house, I started. Also, let me tell you this: last night, I was indeed putting on a show for you. I was the one who had people bring Li Dacheng back from the suburbs and stage his appearance at that intersection. Everything was orchestrated by me."

After a brief pause, Yang Xiaofan added, "Oh, one more thing: I plan to acquire the Zheng Group, and while I'm at it, I'll take good care of 'Sister Shuyu.' Go ahead and rot in hell. Remember in your next life: don't provoke people so easily. Some people might look like ordinary folks, but they are people you truly cannot afford to offend. Understand?"
