Chapter Seventy-Three: An Unending Overwhelming Victory
Tonight, Yiyi was in high spirits.
Recently, after spending a few nights with several wealthy magnates, she had received quite a few generous gifts. Although, like most, she was a streamer with over a million followers, these lavish sponsors had helped her cut through the competition, defeating several other streamers in succession. Two of them, in fact, were the very ones who used to overshadow her.
If nothing unexpected happened tonight, she was very likely to secure a spot in the top three, perhaps even first place. Such a ranking meant that, for the next month, she would be heavily promoted by both her guild and Tiger Fang. After that month, she had a real shot at becoming a streamer with ten million followers.
That would place her among the very elite. Earning tens of millions a year would no longer be a dream.
Compared to that, the million-plus in gifts she’d received from so many wealthy patrons tonight seemed trivial. The thought made her elated, and during the PK matches, her confidence soared—she carried herself as though she were already a top-tier streamer.
When she saw Nuanxin Qin appear, she was surprised. She had never seen Nuanxin Qin before. For someone as calculating as Yiyi, there wasn’t a single notable streamer she didn’t know. The absence of Nuanxin Qin from her memory could only mean that she was a small-time streamer.
But how could such a small streamer make it this far in the PK tournament? And judging by her record, she’d won three out of three matches? Could it be that she, too, had found herself a wealthy backer who had propelled her to the top?
Yes, that had to be it.
With this thought, Yiyi grew even more arrogant. She raised her chin slightly and looked at Nuanxin Qin with a sidelong glance, assuming the lofty attitude of a queen.
“Host Warmheart? I’ve never heard of you before. Did you come over from another platform?” Yiyi asked.
Nuanxin Qin immediately recognized Yiyi as well. This was the person her brother-in-law had warned her about. If not for her, her brother-in-law wouldn’t have helped her stream tonight. So she saw no reason to be polite.
“There are plenty of streamers you haven’t heard of. After all, you’re not that big a deal yourself. There are many in this business you’ll never have the chance to meet.”
Her words instantly fired up her own audience.
“Oh, that’s sharp!”
“Doggy, you’re so fierce. I like it!”
On the other side, Yiyi was momentarily stunned, then her expression darkened.
She didn’t need to say a word; her own fans began to curse.
“What the hell? Daring to look down on our Yiyi? You must have a death wish!”
“Yeah, who do you think you are? Going against our Yiyi? You’ll be finished before you know what hit you.”
Yiyi sneered coldly. “Such big talk! Let me give you a bit of advice, little girl. The streaming world runs deep. Don’t get too full of yourself. Sometimes, if you lift your feet too high, you’re bound to fall.”
“Oh please, I’m not so easily scared. If you’ve got what it takes, bring it on,” Nuanxin Qin shot back, opening the PK challenge bar without hesitation.
Her attitude was utterly defiant, as if Yiyi didn’t matter in the least.
She was standing up for her brother-in-law. Her brother-in-law’s enemies were her enemies too—and in times of need, a sister-in-law stands by her brother-in-law. This was the law of the ages!
Yiyi accepted the PK without the slightest courtesy. With her sizable fan base and the wealthy patrons who’d supported her recently, aside from the absolute top streamers, she didn’t take anyone else seriously.
Sure enough, as the PK began, Yiyi’s score shot up rapidly—her fans and patrons began showering her with gifts. Watching her numbers climb, crushing Nuanxin Qin, Yiyi couldn’t help but smile, her happiness plain for all to see.
But then, something unexpected happened.
Nuanxin Qin’s PK bar began to rise steadily as well, and even faster than Yiyi’s, shooting upward like a rocket.
Yang Xiaofan had made his move!
Moreover, he’d just discovered a new trick: the treasure chest.
Each one cost five thousand, but brought in fifty thousand PK points—much more efficient than the super rockets he’d been using, which had left his fingers sore. With treasure chests, he could save more than half the time.
As Nuanxin Qin’s PK bar caught up, Yiyi quickly spoke up.
“Ahem… Well, your fans are pretty impressive too. But since our fans are so enthusiastic, we really shouldn’t waste any more time. How about this: I’ll perform ‘Drunken Breeze’ for everyone, to thank all the brothers and sisters for their support.”
Unlike most streamers who would politely offer a turn, Yiyi jumped in to perform first, not waiting for anyone.
Her behavior made the viewers in Nuanxin Qin’s room frown and scoff.
“Seriously, this woman is way too arrogant.”
“Exactly! Who does she think she is? She doesn’t even ask before performing. Does she think she’s the boss here?”
“I know this streamer. Always been like this—no class at all, a schemer through and through, utterly disgusting. I’ve heard she’s slept with loads of big shots to get where she is now.”
“Honestly, she’s like a dog. Matching her against our Doggy is an insult to Doggy’s purity.”
“Brother-in-law, show her what you’re made of!”
“Don’t go too far—she’s not worthy of our brother-in-law’s attention. Don’t let her infect him with whatever filthy diseases she’s picked up. That’d be a real shame.”
“That’s right, she’s not worthy.”
Even if most viewers didn’t care for her, there was no denying Yiyi’s skill. Many fans were absolutely captivated by her. Most importantly, with her wealthy supporters, her PK bar kept climbing steadily, and for a moment, even Yang Xiaofan struggled to keep up.
No one knew exactly how much money the other side was willing to spend, but being suppressed like this was hardly enjoyable.
At this point, someone in the stream couldn’t help but offer advice:
“Brother-in-law, just using treasure chests is too slow.”
“Brother-in-law, don’t tell me all you know are rockets and treasure chests. That’s not enough—you need to go for Emperor. Look at Yiyi’s room—she’s got more than a dozen Emperors already. That’s why her PK bar is rising so fast. You need to become Emperor, that’s the real way to boost the score.”
“Go for Emperor?”
Yang Xiaofan paused and glanced at Nuanxin Qin, who nodded encouragingly.
