Chapter Nineteen: The Truth of the Immortal Path
(Day 5)
The man’s complex gaze caused even the frozen space-time to tremble slightly.
Within the mighty fortress of the laws, millions of god and demon law phantoms, which had remained motionless in standby due to the absence of battle, began to quiver, as if on the verge of being activated by the threat carried in that gaze.
He closed his eyes, a faint moonlight-like glow emanating from the sky-defying formation patterns, temporarily suppressing the faint life force rekindling within him.
“Not the right time yet...”
Fragments of shattered spirit gradually surfaced, memories tracing back deep into the path of ascension, where ancient imprints carved into the law phantoms lingered once more.
In the hazy afterimages of time, he saw many scenes that could overturn understanding.
Throughout history, those true immortals, whose existence had been doubted by countless cultivators seeking eternal life, stood shoulder to shoulder—dozens of them—in those ancient times.
Before the true entity of the fortress of laws, a gathering of immortals paid respects to a powerful figure.
Yet, even those true immortals radiating the aura of eternal life were as insignificant as ants, shattered by droplets falling from the waves of the boundary sea.
There was also a powerful figure revered by the immortals as the Immortal King, exuding an unmatched aura, who coughed up mouthfuls of blood under the relentless pounding of the world-formed waves, barely shattering the attack of a single wave.
But even after breaking the wave’s blow, he, along with the gathered immortals and the countless beings within the towering fortress—numbering beyond countless billions—were pulverized into ashes by the black beast claws extending from the waves of the boundary sea.
“If one is not at the right time and place, crossing that boundary sea to find the true immortal realm...”
The man shook his head. “Even for an Immortal King, the difficulty would be no less than that of a mortal braving a stormy ocean barehanded.”
He opened his eyes slightly, his gaze sweeping past the blocky figure floating in the void; the crimson blood river reflected deep within his pupils.
(Incomprehensible.)
No matter how it was observed, the blood flow that appeared from nothing was truly conjured from the void.
He stared at the remaining fragments of the Taiyin Moon Blade beneath his feet, as if reliving the blood-soaked boundary sea days when the instrument of enlightenment had been shattered by immense force.
He closed his eyes, shook his head, and sighed, “Back then, I was arrogantly narrow-minded, only leaving behind this drop of tainted blood and regret.”
“Luckily, the Emperor’s Seal remained in the homeland protecting the Taiyin Sect; otherwise, it would have shattered too.”
A flicker of nostalgia flashed through his eyes as he looked up at the sky, seeming to catch a glimpse of his homeland’s scenery. “I wonder how the Taiyin Sect fared since then.”
---
He then looked again at the Dao pattern gradually condensing within the Taiyin Moon Blade fragments at his feet, along with the Taiyin Moon Blade deity slowly reviving from nothing, just like himself, and smiled faintly.
Raising his hand to gather all the blood steaming from the blood lake beneath him, remnants of divine energy and essence of vital blood that had not entirely dissipated even after hundreds of thousands of years were all collected.
In the vast blood lake, the blood’s color faded, turning into lifeless waste blood; all the essence condensed into a blood flower emitting a faint moonlight, which then floated upward toward the sky.
Watching the blocky figure collect it, then causing streams of moonlight-emitting blood to surge forth from nothingness, a faint voice echoed, “Yet, fortune arises from misfortune, glimpsing eternal life...”
---
Fang Zheng watched as the radiant white blood surged from below, then took out an iron bucket to collect it. After spending some time, he replaced all the previous blood cubes one by one.
Once the replacement began, in an instant, the blood emitting moonlight cascaded down like the waters of the Milky Way.
Within the endless moonlit white light, shadows of crescent, waning, and full moons intertwined, breathtakingly beautiful.
“Quite spectacular,” Fang Zheng whispered in awe. “It looks like a glowing red pillar of light.”
However, the energy and pressure contained within this blood far surpassed that of before. It did not continue to fall or wash over the broken moon blade fragments.
Instead, it seemed to possess a form of life, following a mysterious trajectory, transforming into a blood-colored river that continuously condensed and compressed in midair.
The blood, emitting a faint radiance, spontaneously gathered into a blood moon glowing softly.
As the blood from above continued to pour in, the blood moon’s brilliance grew ever brighter.
“Creak, creak...” A strange scraping sound suddenly rang out. Fang Zheng looked around, puzzled. “What’s that noise?”
Listening carefully, he realized the sound came from within the blood moon itself. “Huh! It’s this moon?”
Fang Zheng approached the blood moon, using a telescope to enlarge its details. Inside the blood moon spread countless tiny runes.
Most of these runes repeated over and over, but many were now continuously cracking.
Accompanied by the eerie cracking sounds, the shattered blood-colored crescent moon shifted rapidly, cycling through waxing and waning phases as if time itself were accelerating.
From every angle Fang Zheng observed the blood moon flying and circling above, the lunar phases remained identical, unaffected by the viewing perspective.
It was as if this was not a material object in reality, but a projection from a higher-dimensional space.
Amid the lunar phase changes and cracking sounds, the repetitive runes embedded within the blood were constantly rewritten, beginning to piece together into fragments of chains.
---
These chain fragments continued to combine, gradually converging in the center of the blood moon, which had transformed from crescent to full, forming a complete chain of laws, looping seamlessly within a single drop of blood.
A wisp of imperial Dao pressure emanated from it but was quickly enveloped by the emerging sky-defying formation patterns around it, preventing the powerful aura from disturbing the fortress of laws.
That single drop of blood, containing the complete law chain, instantly absorbed the other blood essences and fragments of laws within the blood-colored full moon, its volume slightly increasing.
The river of moonlight constantly surging down from the sky was also swallowed up by it like a whale engulfing prey.
As the absorption continued, the tiny blood drop rapidly grew, its light becoming increasingly intense, radiating a gentle yet pure power of Taiyin.
Then, the blood orb suspended in midair slowly floated before Fang Zheng.
Peering down through his telescope, he saw a tall, heroic-looking man with a handsome but graying face smiling faintly at him.
His heart stirred with excitement. “Is he finally coming back to life? Is there finally a normal human I can converse with?”
Looking again at the blood orb, he guessed, “This must be some kind of blood essence. If I give him more, will he recover?”
Filled with anticipation, Fang Zheng collected the blood orb with his iron bucket and once more replaced the source of the blood flow above.
Shortly after painstakingly refining and transforming a drop of blood essence containing the complete supreme law from the vast amount of inert dead blood, the man once again saw that same blood surging wildly from the void.
Bathed in his old blood, he smiled. “Creating something from nothing... after all this time, I still can’t understand it.”
“But... thank you for your help. It’s time for me to truly return!”
Infinite Taiyin power poured forth from the blood, along with the complete supreme law chain, seamlessly merging into the lingering regret and resentment, the black aura dissipating entirely, leaving only a faint glimmer of life.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!” A gentle, heartbeat-like pulse quietly appeared in the deepest core of that resentment, formed from past regrets and unwillingness.
It was a faint yet vividly alive primordial spirit and living blood, no weaker than in its prime!
As this drop of blood and a wisp of primordial spirit coalesced, the fortress of laws suddenly erupted in upheaval.
