Chapter 33: Obtaining Egg Drops
"If it is this massive in its true form, how much would it weigh? How much would it have to eat to grow to such a size? Eating thousands or tens of thousands of suns probably wouldn't even be enough to fill the gaps between its teeth, like sipping on thin air. Also, do creatures of this size even defecate?"
Fang Zheng mused to himself while maintaining his spectator mode, passing directly through the dark cyan eggshell.
Inside the shell, Fang Zheng curiously examined the small "snake" before him. Compared to the massive egg, which was large enough to hold an elephant, the cold flood dragon embryo inside was only the length and thickness of an adult's arm. Its entire body shimmered with a faint, ink-jade luster, and its translucent scales had not yet fully hardened; one could faintly see pale cyan blood vessels and colorful internal organs pulsing beneath its skin. Its head was disproportionately large compared to its body, like a bobblehead doll, with two small bumps where horns would eventually sprout. Although it was just an embryo, sharp fangs had already pierced through its lips, revealing it to be a born carnivore.
Remaining in spectator mode, Fang Zheng tried passing his head through the creature's body. By manipulating his perspective, he could see that its heart had stopped beating entirely, and the blood within its body seemed to have frozen into some kind of ice.
"It seems this is indeed a dead embryo," Fang Zheng pondered. "But the rules for placing eggs into monster spawners don't specify whether the egg must be alive or dead, do they? After all, in Minecraft, there is no such distinction between a live egg and a dead one."
If his hypothesis was correct, the compromise between the laws of Minecraft and the laws of this cultivation world meant that such criteria were likely quite ambiguous. Even if the embryo inside was dead, it might still work.
"However..." He looked at the massive egg and felt a headache coming on. "It's so huge; can I really store this in my status bar?"
In Minecraft, any item that can be stored in the inventory is at most one block in size. Could this cold flood dragon egg, which was far larger than a one-meter-by-one-meter block, really be converted into a dropped item?
"Whatever, I'll know once I try."
He switched back to Creative Mode and called out to Jiang Tingting, asking her to help move this dead egg to the shore. Hearing Fang Zheng’s voice coming from deep beneath the dark pool, Jiang Tingting didn't have time to wonder how she could hear his voice through such thick water without the use of divine sense. She immediately located the target in the direction of the sound.
Soft divine power transformed into a large hand, penetrating the deep, freezing pool, ignoring the bone-chilling malevolent energy below. It broke the sealing formation at the bottom and retrieved the cold flood dragon egg, which had been positioned at the node of a malevolent earth vein.
On the shore, Jiang Tingting looked at the cracks in the eggshell and the complete absence of life, sensing only a faint aura of death. She was full of doubt. "What does Senior Fang want with this dead egg?"
She recalled how Fang Zheng had just restored an old white ape to its youth and formed a guess, though she found it hard to believe. "Could it be... that Senior is even capable of bringing this dead egg back to life?"
Jiang Tingting was secretly startled, shocked by her own conjecture, yet she found herself faintly hoping it would come true. "If he can truly do that, then doesn't it mean that youth and aging, yin and yang, life and death, can all be reversed and transformed at will by his hands? How is that any different from the 'Immortals' of legend?"
Fang Zheng walked around the egg and sighed, "This thing really is huge."
"Can this cold flood dragon egg be obtained using the same method as the Ender Dragon egg?"
Although he only played in his spare time after finishing his homework, Fang Zheng knew some common knowledge about Minecraft. In the game, while in Survival Mode, players could only obtain a very limited number of eggs, such as chicken eggs, turtle eggs, sniffer eggs, and the Ender Dragon egg, none of which were spawn eggs. While the others could be hatched into their respective species, the Ender Dragon egg was special. It could not be obtained through breeding; it only appeared after the first time a player defeated the Ender Dragon.
Furthermore, the Ender Dragon egg was one of the few items in Minecraft affected by gravity. If there was no block beneath it to support it, it would fall. It could not be mined; if a player tried, it would teleport away like an Enderman, making it impossible to collect as a drop. However, if one dug out the blocks beneath it, placed a torch in the hollow space, and then broke the block supporting the egg, it would fall, hit the torch, and turn into a collectible item.
Since the rules of the Minecraft world and this cultivation world were undergoing a mutual compromise, could this cold flood dragon egg be treated as an object similar to an Ender Dragon egg, allowing him to replicate the process?
Fang Zheng wanted to see if he could exploit this "bug" to turn the egg into a dropped item and store it in his inventory. If it worked, he might be able to use this method to acquire every type of egg he encountered in the future.
Fang Zheng started immediately. His blocky hands swung, and the solid rock directly beneath him was instantly pulverized into square gaps. He dropped down with it, quickly dug out a square hole, placed a few torches inside, and then destroyed the remaining stone supporting the egg.
Affected by gravity, the massive object plummeted toward the torches in the space below.
*Plop...*
Accompanying the familiar sound effect of a dropped item, the massive cold flood dragon egg, over three meters in diameter, vanished into thin air just before it hit the torches. Left in its place, hovering beside the torch, was an oval, cardboard-like dropped item with a dark cyan base and swirling cloud patterns.
Seeing this, Fang Zheng shouted excitedly, "Yes! It worked!"
He hurried over, absorbed the dropped item into his inventory, and opened it impatiently. There, in the monster egg section, a brand new dark cyan egg with spiral cloud patterns had appeared.
