Chapter Four: Observer Mode
At the very origin of the Road to Immortality, which leads to the fragments of the Immortal Realm, stood a divine White Tiger. Its body radiated a brilliant, white-gold luster, shimmering like a white supergiant star. Beside it, looking as insignificant as a speck of dust, a Vermilion Bird poured out its full power without reservation. Together, they unleashed a fragmented Four Symbols Killing Array, exhausting every ounce of their strength to crush and eradicate the intruder.
Within the divine mountain formed by the suppressive force of the Four Symbols Killing Array, all external fluctuations were completely isolated. Even the thin strands of Immortal Dao laws permeating the Road to Immortality were forcibly expelled, creating a vacuum of universal laws where only the purest power of slaughter and suppression remained.
Space-time was being continuously shattered into primordial chaos at its most fundamental scale, and that chaos was being constantly carved into new, miniature worlds. The laws of the Great Dao trembled and fractured, only to be forcibly stitched and reinforced by this terrifying force of slaughter. This allowed the density of the power to transcend the capacity limits of the original space-time indefinitely, becoming all the more horrific.
Yet, despite the runes circulating within the array and the power condensing frantically, the force—which was sufficient to slay those at the pinnacle of humanity—struck the dull, absurd block-shaped body of the intruder like clouds hitting divine iron, failing to inflict the slightest bit of damage.
Then, with a mere thought, Fang Zheng opened the settings menu and activated Spectator Mode. His entire blocky body instantly became intangible.
The Four Symbols Killing Array, which spanned millions of kilometers and drew upon the power of heaven and earth, had been locked onto the target with the intent to suppress and grind him into nothingness. Suddenly, the target vanished. The force, previously condensed to an extreme degree, instantly scattered. The chains of law, composed of countless Great Dao runes, lashed out like a billion rampaging vipers. They danced wildly, and countless golden-red chains erupted from the magnificent primordial mountain, extending endlessly as they scoured the heavens and earth, searching for the prisoner who should have been trapped.
In the game of Minecraft, without any mods installed, the mobile version offers four modes: Creative, Survival, Adventure, and Spectator. As the name suggests, Spectator Mode allows the user to become intangible, ignoring all obstacles and traversing the land at will. In this state, one is immune to all damage, but also incapable of exerting any influence on the surrounding environment. It is typically used by players who cannot find diamonds in mineshafts as a form of cheating—to use X-ray vision to locate valuable ore veins or monster spawners.
Now, after switching to Spectator Mode, the blocky figure that had been firmly stuck and immobilized within the golden-red crystal became like a non-existent phantom. He flailed his blocky limbs, sprinting through the void at a speed of approximately 14 meters per second.
However, in Spectator Mode, while the semi-transparent golden-red crystals that had previously obstructed his vision became completely transparent—allowing Fang Zheng to clearly see the corner of the Four Symbols Killing Array, which was composed of dense, frantic chains of law—the interior of those golden-red materials remained a chaotic tangle of countless snakes, completely blocking his line of sight. He could not see the end of these rune chains at all.
This was a specific trait of the X-ray functionality in Spectator Mode: while ordinary stone could be seen through completely, ore blocks, underground plants, and monsters would appear clearly.
Fang Zheng looked at the dancing chains of law. "Could it be that, according to the logic of Creative Mode, these things are classified as some kind of mineral?"
The blocky figure began to sprint at his maximum speed, attempting to find a pattern within the dense, tangled ball of law-chains to determine how much longer he would need to run to escape the area. But most frustratingly, even as he sprinted endlessly through the void, he could find no variation. The seemingly chaotic and abstract rune chains showed no difference in density.
"This won't do. The maximum flight speed in Spectator Mode is far too slow—it can't even compare to flying with an Elytra in Creative Mode, let alone an Ender Pearl cannon or a speed-boosted horse."
Fang Zheng cast his gaze toward the command options at the top of his view. After a moment of hesitation, he opened them with a thought. In the command bar, there were four shortcuts: Set World Spawn, Teleport, Time, and Weather.
When he first discovered he had transmigrated, Fang Zheng had tried every possible way to explore the command system. Unfortunately, he found that he could only use the shortcuts available in the mobile version of Minecraft; he could not conjure command blocks, nor could he edit the complex, intricate commands used by advanced players.
Among these shortcuts, the most useful for Fang Zheng at the time was the Teleport command. By inputting coordinates, he could ignore the slow flight speed of Creative Mode and teleport directly to any three-dimensional coordinate he desired. Back when he was anxious and desperate to explore the limits of the Minecraft world—even trying to fall into ungenerated chunks—he had spent an entire day patiently typing "999..." into the coordinate bars, each string of numbers exceeding ten thousand digits in length.
However, while the teleportation succeeded, Fang Zheng was simply transported to an extreme altitude in the sky; he did not fall out of the world as he had hoped. Even at that height, he found no anomalies. The familiar black void and the flat, two-dimensional sun icon remained exactly where they had always been.
But the question remained: "I have used the teleport command often, but that was always within the three dimensions of Minecraft."
"Now that I have arrived in this brand-new world of immortality through the white Nether Portal, can I truly still use these commands to teleport?"
Fang Zheng looked at the three-dimensional coordinates in the top-left corner of his vision. He recalled that in this suspected world of cultivation, the spot where he emerged from the white Nether Portal was exactly 0, 0, 0. It seemed that the place where he arrived had become the spawn point for this new world.
"If I use the teleport command, will I teleport within this world, or will I be sent back to the corresponding coordinates in the Minecraft world?"
The mere thought of returning to that dull, monotonous world of pixelated blocks filled Fang Zheng with a deep, crushing sense of despair.
He took a mental breath, trying to comfort himself. "Fang Zheng, don't be afraid. You saw it yourself—the white Nether Portal that brought you here was formed by a lightning strike."
"Even if you do return to the Minecraft world, as long as you use a Channeling-enchanted weapon to strike a Nether Portal frame with lightning, perhaps you can open the white portal again, return to this world, or even travel to even more new worlds!"
"Probably..."
However, even with these attempts at self-consolation, the fear rooted in his heart did not dissipate. As the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy. What if? What if he failed? What if the white Nether Portal was just a one-time coincidence?
